About the Role

General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI), an affiliate of General Atomics, is a world leader in proven, reliable remotely piloted aircraft and tactical reconnaissance radars, as well as advanced high-resolution surveillance systems. We have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and self-driven Additive Manufacturing (AM) Project Manager in our AM department located in Poway, CA. This position will support the growth of AM at GA-ASI by managing projects related to new AM applications, process improvements, training, and production, acting as the principal AM-related project management interface across various programs and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Development and execution of AM technical project scope of work, plan, schedule and budget in support of the AM application development engineering team efforts, IRAD, process improvements, communication, training, and production projects.
  • Support the development and communication of AM business trade studies on new potential applications, leveraging internal and external capabilities and resources.
  • Serve as the primary Point of Contact (POC) between the AM team and stakeholder teams/programs, providing AM expertise and representation throughout project execution.
  • Manage AM-related project schedule and budget.
  • Coordinate communication, team alignment, and task execution among project stakeholders including manufacturing, engineering, quality, program offices, and upper management.
  • Coordinate project execution with external suppliers/partners when applicable.
  • Develop project tracking metrics and tools for reporting at all levels and facilitate team growth.
  • Provide basic knowledge support on AM technologies (such as FDM, SLS, LPBF, Binder Jet, LSAM/BAAM, DED-W, SLA, DLP, MJF) as the POC on project teams.
  • Maintain records of project engagements, best practices, lessons learned, and develop AM application growth metrics and reporting practices.
  • Participate in and drive communication initiatives to promote AM knowledge transfer and awareness across GA-ASI.
  • Develop, maintain, and communicate the AM application library using intranet tools/platforms.
  • Work closely with internal AM technology work cells, manufacturing engineering, quality, M&P, stress engineering, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth project flow.
  • Support AM manufacturing engineers with process improvement strategies and drive them to completion.
  • Collaborate with procurement, production planning, and logistics stakeholders on project execution.
  • Support and drive multiple R&D projects related to application development.
  • Work with Design for AM (DfAM) engineering to assess and support new application development and provide feedback on project milestones.
  • Track project budgets and spending.

Requirements

  • Experience in project management within an engineering or manufacturing environment, preferably related to additive manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of AM technologies including FDM, SLS, LPBF, Binder Jet, LSAM/BAAM, DED-W, SLA, DLP, MJF.
  • Ability to develop and manage project scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Strong communication and team coordination skills across multiple stakeholder groups.
  • Experience supporting or working with manufacturing, engineering, quality, and supply chain teams.
  • Familiarity with developing project metrics, reporting tools, and best practices for project tracking.
  • Basic technical knowledge of AM processes and applications.

Nice to Have

  • Experience working with external suppliers and partners.
  • Knowledge of Design for Additive Manufacturing (DfAM).
  • Experience supporting R&D projects in AM.
