Job Description

About the Role

Nakupuna Consulting is looking for a Public Affairs and Social Media Analyst to assist the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) Public Affairs (PA) Office in managing and improving their current marketing and social media efforts. The role involves managing DPAA's public posts on the dpaa.mil website and social media platforms, creating content for publications, and recommending improvements to existing marketing strategies. The candidate may also work with a team of Salesforce Developers to implement new enhancements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain a social media marketing calendar integrating all social media platforms used by DPAA (Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram).
  • Develop relevant social media posts for approval and release by Government release Authority.
  • Advise Public Affairs Office staff on social media strategy and best practices.
  • Audit, consolidate, and simplify the Public Affairs Office's current marketing and social media communications and tools.
  • Collaborate with the client to deliver products such as the Year in Review Magazine, including creating content, graphic design, and advising on format/layout decisions.
  • Track, analyze, and report on engagement statistics, providing guidance to improve engagement.
  • Lead and/or assist development team in configuring social media platform tools.
  • Recommend additional software to support marketing and social media goals.
  • Develop technical user guides and train PA personnel on new software or marketing best practices.
  • Record, edit, and post podcasts and other audio/visual content as needed.
  • Advise and deliver social media campaigns, such as the “DPAA in the Field” series.
  • Analyze current website content and develop actionable plans to modernize the website experience.
  • Procure and source photos to support narrative language for website posts.
  • Work with the development team to incorporate branding themes across the website.
  • Design and create printable materials for the website as requested.
  • Proactively communicate with the customer to gather and document requirements.
  • Use Agile methodology, including ticketing systems and MVP development, to manage work and adapt to changing requirements.
  • Provide polished content for monthly status reports and other contract deliverables.
  • Attend client and internal meetings as required, sometimes working evenings and weekends.

Requirements

  • Experience with social media platforms including Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, Podcasts, and YouTube.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator).
  • Proficient in design platforms such as Canva.
  • Experience collaborating with executives and senior management.
  • Ability to coordinate activities, negotiate tasks, and solve problems with clients.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and adapt quickly based on client feedback.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Attention to detail to ensure accuracy and error-free publications.
  • Willingness to take initiative and work independently when needed.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and at least 3 years of relevant professional experience, or equivalent military/work experience.
  • Must currently hold at least a Secret security clearance.
  • U.S. citizen.
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions, follow audible communications in emergencies, sit for prolonged periods at a desk, and work on a computer.

  • Experience with web content management and redesign.
  • Experience with web content workflow analysis.
  • Experience working with Salesforce development teams.
  • Experience with audio/visual content recording, editing, and posting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution or equivalent military/work experience.
  • Minimum of three years of relevant professional experience.
  • Secret security clearance or higher.
