Job Description

About the Role

In order to build excellent products and tell great stories, we must first profoundly understand our audiences - what motivates them, why they think and behave the way they do, and what they think of our brands and products. The Consumer Apps Marketing Research and Insights (CAMRI) team is at the heart of developing this understanding, actively representing users in internal discussions, advocating for their needs, and continuously identifying ways to better serve them. As a Research and Insights Manager at Google, you lead research that influences business and launch strategies. Through a profound understanding of our users, you represent their needs, preferences and concerns in cross-functional stakeholder discussions. Transforming observations into actionable insights, and bringing these points to life via compelling storytelling is key to success in this role. You'll do this by scoping custom research studies with external agencies and developing insights-backed perspectives via research synthesis efforts on a regular basis. This role is embedded in the AI Marketing team, where you'll partner with AI Marketers to shape the narrative and strategy for Google's AI ecosystem for users around the world. You'll manage the research roadmap for the AI Marketing team, and infuse your deep understanding of user behavior in the changing competitive landscape to provide relevant context and clear recommendations on go-to-market decisions. You'll be sharing your findings frequently, in forums large and small, with everyone from junior to senior executive staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the global research roadmap, which outlines primary and secondary study support that align with business objectives.
  • Scope custom research from start to finish, including: designing an effective brief, managing Requests for Proposals (RFPs), onboarding research agencies, choosing a methodology, executing the study, and deploying insights and recommendations via compelling narratives in a variety of formats (decks, sites, emails, presentations, etc.).
  • Develop insights from quantitative data and qualitative observations, using a variety of internal and external sources and contribute thoughtful findings that can only be surfaced through an integrated data perspective.
  • Share research findings and insights via presentations in forums large and small, with executive staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a research or quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience designing, scoping, executing, and delivering research and analysis projects.
  • Experience translating business problems into research questions and translating research findings and insights into marketing recommendations.
  • Experience managing research and measurement agencies.
  • Experience synthesizing learnings from various secondary research resources.

Nice to Have

  • Experience leading global studies, and familiarity with market-specific survey/interview nuances.
  • Experience working on AI-related topics or audiences.
  • Ability to manage projects with multiple stakeholders and priorities.
  • Excellent project management skills and a keen attention to detail.
  • Proven track record of collaborating with researchers regularly in adjacent organizations on joint studies or on-going programs.

Qualifications

  • Formal educational background in research or quantitative fields (Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience).

Benefits & Perks

  • US base salary range for this full-time position is $137,000-$201,000 + bonus + equity + benefits.
  • Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location.
  • Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
