Research Science Analyst - Mobility Electrification Model, EV Outlook

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Leverage the McKinsey Electric Vehicle Outlook Model to generate scenario-based EV sales and parc forecasts for passenger cars and commercial vehicles, considering total cost of ownership curves, regulatory impacts, and demand and supply drivers.
• Conduct in-depth analyses of individual OEM strategies, assessing their market positioning, go-to-market approaches, and investment plans.
• Apply advanced machine learning algorithms (proficiency not required) to identify drivers and underlying correlations.
• Analyze value and profit pools across the automotive value chain, identifying strategic opportunities for OEMs and suppliers in the mobility transition.
• Develop data-driven recommendations for portfolio and investment decisions.
• Work with McKinsey experts and directly with clients to develop and customize business insights and model outputs.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in either business, business informatics, economics or STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) preferred.
• 2+ years of professional experience.
• Proficiency in Python to manage and visualize mobility data insights and guide the development of mobility tools (preferred).
• Background in, or strong interest in automotive and mobility, and a willingness to specialize in the area.
• Strong analytical background with quantitative skills, including knowledge of software/solutions.
• Strong MS Excel and PowerPoint skills are a minimum requirement, preferably with Python coding proficiency and data visualization (e.g., Tableau, PowerBI).
• Adept at managing key stakeholders (internal & external).
• Confidence and ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, often ambiguous environment with senior stakeholders.
• Strong process management skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple workstreams autonomously.

Nice to Have

• Proficiency in Python for managing and visualizing data insights.
• Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau or PowerBI.
