About the Role

The Senior Business Development Executive for Aerospace & Defense at Ansys supports national security and readiness by accelerating digital transformation through simulation, Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), and mission engineering. This role involves driving innovation and growth within the aerospace and defense community, leveraging market experience, technical knowledge, and business acumen to identify opportunities and foster strategic relationships. The position is open to any work location within the US and is part of the Ansys Federal, Aerospace, and Defense team dedicated to powering innovation that drives human advancement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify, qualify, and assist in the capture of high-value opportunities in the national security market.
  • Contribute to the prioritization of new business pursuits, provide guidance and support to grow and accelerate the sales pipeline, and drive marketing and product alignment activities.
  • Manage and retain strategic relationships with key stakeholders and thought leaders in the market.
  • Assist customers in meeting their requirements and filling capability gaps with products and technologies available or being developed by Ansys.
  • Serve as a senior selling mentor and market area expert in support of overall FA&D objectives.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams including sales, engineering, marketing, and partners to deliver an excellent customer experience.
  • Coordinate with engineering and sales personnel in preparing, editing, and presenting briefings, as well as facilitating discussions with customers and partners.
  • Research business opportunities and identify viable income streams for white space expansion.
  • Follow and report on industry trends.
  • Represent Ansys at trade shows, industry days, conferences, and industry association events.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, Science or related field with a minimum of 4+ years of experience in sales, business development or related field, or 8+ years of experience in sales, business development or related field.
  • Ability to gain a U.S. security clearance and operate within AGI and Ansys data security requirements.
  • Ability to develop, implement, and manage strategies for new business capture that increase pipeline and win rates.
  • High emotional intelligence and a proven track record of building and maintaining strong relationships with senior executives and technical users.
  • Knowledge of government contracting methodologies, current acquisition trends, and customer funding cycles.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with experience presenting to senior executives and customers.
  • Ability to plan, navigate, and negotiate a sophisticated selling process.
  • Team player with demonstrated capabilities for building trust, accountability, and collaboration among stakeholders.
