Senior Data Governance Analyst

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Support ongoing Business-As-Usual (BAU) activities within the Data Governance and Risk Oversight function, including review and challenge of First Line Data Governance Program Deliverables.
• Evaluate remediation plans and deliverables to ensure effective resolution of data issues.
• Provide independent challenge to ensure alignment with enterprise data governance standards and regulatory expectations.
• Conduct verification activities for data-related issues to confirm effective remediation.
• Collaborate with first-line teams to assess root cause analysis and sustainability of fixes.
• Assess data-related risks and evaluate the design and effectiveness of associated controls.
• Support risk assessments and control testing activities as needed.
• Assist in the calculation of client data risk and control metrics.
• Review and challenge metric methodologies and results to ensure accuracy and relevance.

Requirements

• Certifications such as DCAM, CISSP, CISA, and CRISC.
• Experience supporting Data Governance roles, preferably in senior analyst positions.
• Experience with mid/large sized financial institutions.
• Minimum of 8+ years of experience in data management, technology risk, or cyber risk management.
• Experience with second-line risk functions or data governance within financial services.
• Strong familiarity with the Data Management Capability Assessment Model (DCAM) framework.
• Deep understanding of data governance principles and regulatory expectations.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
• Experience working in cross-functional teams and managing competing priorities.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Cloud Data Management Capabilities (CDMC).
• Certifications such as Governance, Risk and Compliance Certification (CGRC), Information Systems Management Professional (ISSMP), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC), Certified Data Privacy Solutions Engineer (CDPSE), Certified in the Governance of Enterprise IT (CGEIT).
