About the Role

The Ohio State University's Libraries is seeking a Senior Digital Content Specialist to focus on planning, creation, management, and analysis of compelling digital content across various channels. The role involves supporting the Libraries' strategic marketing efforts, promoting awareness and engagement, and advancing the culture of University Libraries through innovative digital initiatives. The position emphasizes collaboration, digital expertise, and alignment with university values and priorities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Producing and creatively repurposing a wide variety of digital content, including social media posts, articles, videos, graphics, and intranet updates to raise awareness and increase engagement with University Libraries and its initiatives.
  • Facilitating monthly brainstorming meetings on social media content planning and communicating regularly with all areas within University Libraries for strategic digital content idea generation.
  • Managing digital content calendars and collaborating across University Libraries teams to implement digital strategy.
  • Building relationships with internal partners, university units, and freelancers to develop and amplify digital content.
  • Serving as the lead for website content optimization, auditing the Libraries' website, overseeing content updates, and partnering with page editors.
  • Training website editors on the use of Drupal, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, and Simpplr, and providing ongoing support.
  • Using HTML to code webpage elements and participating in ongoing training on digital accessibility and SEO best practices.
  • Reporting website metrics, benchmarking, and implementing SEO strategies.
  • Managing social media and email campaigns, providing guidance, training, and acting as the primary contact for related teams.
  • Building and managing email communications using HTML templates and Salesforce Marketing Cloud.
  • Measuring and reporting on digital campaign performance and offering optimization recommendations.
  • Managing departmental intranet content and facilitating internal communications, including announcements and internal personnel updates.
  • Supporting photography needs at events and assisting with recruitment and hiring of student employees.
  • Supporting digital copywriting and visual design with appropriate tone and brand consistency.
  • Performing all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience in marketing or digital communications.
  • At least 4 years of experience managing organizational social media accounts, website pages, digital communications, and video production.
  • Proficiency in common social media platforms, content management systems, social media scheduling/monitoring tools, and video production.
  • Strong copywriting skills and knowledge of AP style.
  • Experience developing digital content and implementing multi-channel campaigns successfully.
  • Proven ability to report on digital marketing performance and optimize strategies accordingly.
  • Comfortable learning new tools and participating in digital trainings.
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-directed and responsible work ethic.

Nice to Have

  • Knowledge of photography, design, and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Experience working in a complex organization with multiple target audiences.

Qualifications

  • Educational background in journalism, communications, or related fields, or equivalent experience.
