The role of Senior Director Design, Lifestyle involves working in an energizing, inclusive, and creative environment focused on concepting and creating sustainable products that exceed customer expectations, partnering with cross-functional teams, and leading a creative design team across multiple product areas or divisions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead team through all aspects of the product design process, providing creative direction, coaching, and developing a motivated, high performing team.
  • Regularly influence leadership team decisions and initiatives.
  • Develop overall design vision and concept for division or function, advocating and presenting strategies to internal leadership and cross functional partners.
  • Research global markets to identify new seasonal trends, silhouettes, fabrics, techniques, product categories, and competitive inspiration.
  • Develop strong internal cross functional relationships with Merchandising, Production, Technical design, Gap Inc Sourcing (GIS), Visual Merchandising, and Marketing to ensure seamless product concept to store and site execution.
  • Partner with Production and Tech Design to create tech packs and communicate the vision behind fit and product design, ensuring execution, quality, and margin targets are achieved.
  • Responsible for planning, budget, and end results; set policies and strategies for division or function.

Requirements

  • Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic, and highly collaborative environment, managing multiple seasons and tracking development deadlines.
  • Ability to lead, influence, and develop a high performing team of designers.
  • Possess an elevated sense of style, aesthetic, and color, and understand how to translate trends through the lens of the customer and brand.
  • Expert knowledge of silhouette, fit, fabrication, construction, color use, sewing techniques, and trim.
  • Strong computer knowledge including Adobe Illustrator and Microsoft Excel.

  • Experience in sustainable product development.
  • Knowledge of global fashion markets and trends.

Qualifications

  • Experience in fashion or apparel design leadership roles.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute design strategies.
