About the Role

The Senior Director of HCP Marketing, Primary Biliary Cholangitis (PBC), will lead the Healthcare Professional (HCP) strategy and execution of Gilead's PBC business. This key leadership role will ensure the success of the PBC business today, and prepare for an evolving future market including competitive readiness for new entrants and development of the strategy and plan for a new indication. The role reports to the Executive Director of Marketing and involves overseeing strategic and tactical promotional plans, market research insights, stakeholder engagement, and agency relationships to drive brand success and market positioning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the development and implementation of strategic and tactical promotional plans for HCPs.
  • Develop the PBC Plan of Action (POA) for field sales teams and coordinate with Commercial Learning and Development (CL&D) to guide implementation.
  • Lead competitive readiness planning to understand the evolving PBC market and prepare for future market entrants.
  • Lead launch readiness strategy and tactical planning for potential new indication.
  • Distill market research findings into insights that support the strategy, messaging, and execution.
  • Coordinate with the market insights team to set the future direction for insight generation.
  • Develop and deliver presentations to internal stakeholders including leadership, field teams, and cross-functional colleagues.
  • Cultivate customer relationships with thought leaders, key customers, and professional organizations.
  • Represent Marketing on the promotional review committee to guide review and approval of marketing tactics, manage timelines, and ensure compliance.
  • Manage HCP marketing budget and ensure expenditure aligns with brand strategy and tactical plans.
  • Monitor marketing impact and provide recommendations for marketing mix allocation.
  • Oversee agency relationships and performance, leveraging expertise to meet business needs.
  • Manage all aspects of HCP promotions budget and prioritize execution effectively.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and fourteen years of experience, or Master's Degree and twelve years of experience, or Ph.D. and twelve years of experience.
  • Healthcare professional promotional expertise in prior roles is required.
  • Prior people management experience is required, with desired sales leadership experience.
  • Strong understanding of pharmaceutical regulatory requirements and their impact on marketing materials.
  • Experience with complex budget management, expense forecasting, and tracking.
  • Strong product launch experience and experience in competitive markets.
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to lead change and manage teams.
  • Superior project management skills and ability to oversee multiple projects.
  • Strong interpersonal and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Experience developing external relationships leading to brand advocacy.

Nice to Have

  • Extensive understanding of therapeutic areas such as rare disease, liver, or immunology.
  • US launch experience in a competitive market space.
  • Experience with Gilead franchises or exposure to pharmaceutical regulatory environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree with 14+ years of experience, or Master's Degree with 12+ years, or Ph.D. with 12+ years.
  • Preferred: MBA with 12+ years of pharma/biotech marketing experience.
