About the Role

The Senior Director, Social Media, will play a key role in advancing the organization's social media strategy, increasing brand awareness, and engaging global audiences through innovative storytelling and data-driven insights.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a holistic social media strategy balancing brand storytelling with measurable ROI-driven tactics to drive growth across platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, X, Facebook, and YouTube.
  • Set clear social media strategy and objectives aligned with broader Communications team goals, MCF divisional initiatives, and agency steers.
  • Manage social media editorial calendar and oversee daily posting activities.
  • Delegate content creation and prioritize tasks to ensure high-quality output in a fast-paced environment.
  • Develop social media content strategy for planned campaigns and reactive moments, ensuring agility and responsiveness.
  • Drive brand governance in social media to build brand affinity and protect reputation, collaborating with Brand Marketing and Creative teams.
  • Guide A/B testing and optimization to inform content strategy through data-driven insights.
  • Oversee production of social toolkits for emergencies, cause marketing, and large media campaigns.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders including humanitarian media, government relations, and the Office of the President, serving as the primary social media liaison.
  • Collaborate with external stakeholders such as corporate partners and talent to drive engagement.
  • Train, develop, coach, and supervise staff, fostering a diverse, inclusive, and collaborative working environment.
  • Set team objectives, assign responsibilities, and manage performance KPIs.
  • Monitor social media trends, best practices, and tools to ensure leadership in social engagement.
  • Partner with teams to identify and implement best-in-class social listening tools and reporting mechanisms.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, plus at least 7 years of relevant experience.
  • Deep understanding and hands-on experience of digital and social media management.
  • Proven expertise in managing owned social media channels.
  • Ability to advise colleagues and drive projects amid ambiguity and competing priorities.
  • Familiarity with traditional media and social media news cycles, with a strong understanding of content strategies.
  • Hands-on experience working in a fast-paced communications or media environment.
  • Strong writing, verbal communication, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with individuals and teams at all levels, both internally and externally.
  • Self-reliant, curious, results-oriented, and problem-solving mindset.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and professional proficiency in spoken and written communication.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • At least 7 years of relevant experience in social media or related fields.
