About the Role

The Senior Manager, Event Marketing is responsible for leading strategic planning and execution of North America (NA) Event Marketing initiatives at Brooks. This role involves collaborating with senior leadership, managing event operations, influencing cross-functional teams, and building a high-performance team to drive brand engagement and business growth through events and sponsorships. The position is based at Brooks' Seattle headquarters and emphasizes a culture of inclusivity, collaboration, and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead 1-3 year strategic planning for NA Event Marketing, developing clear expectations and deliverables to guide the team's execution.
  • Engage senior leadership to align the NA Event Marketing strategy and roadmap with overall business strategy and ensure integration into relevant departments.
  • Champion process improvement and cost reduction efforts by anticipating tactical and strategic needs and aligning resources accordingly.
  • Partner with senior NA Marketing management to ensure department strategy aligns with overall business objectives.
  • Develop a deep understanding of Brooks' business and opportunities by connecting with leaders and peers across the organization to inform strategy development.
  • Gather and analyze data from multiple sources to develop insights that inform strategy and prioritization.
  • Oversee the delivery of NA Event Marketing initiatives supporting multi-year marketing roadmaps and key company goals.
  • Lead the full product lifecycle of event apparel, including item creation, seasonal management, and communication with event partners.
  • Oversee event order management to meet inventory needs at all events.
  • Act as liaison with external agencies to ensure seamless execution and branding for event activations.
  • Direct Brooks' presence at all events, managing booth layout, product sales, staffing, and merchandising.
  • Oversee sponsorship programs, maintain contractual agreements, evaluate sponsorships, and collaborate with Legal for negotiations.
  • Evaluate race event opportunities, identify strategic fits, and recommend actions to marketing leadership.
  • Own and manage the Event team, ensuring goals and objectives are aligned with strategic initiatives.
  • Translate strategy into functional processes for the team and oversee their continuous improvement.
  • Champion cross-functional initiatives, influence stakeholders, and build partnerships across departments.
  • Engage with department leaders to understand strategic needs and develop NA Marketing strategies.
  • Build trusted relationships with other leaders and support cross-functional projects.
  • Act as a steward of Brooks culture, fostering openness and trust within the team.
  • Lead the NA Event Marketing team toward shared objectives that engage runners through key regional and global events.
  • Provide growth opportunities and feedback to team members.
  • Build and monitor the NA Event Marketing budget, contributing to overall NA Marketing budget, and ensure resource alignment.
  • Demonstrate enterprise accountability in managing the NA Event Marketing budget and resources.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) from a four-year university, preferably in Business, Marketing, or Communications; MBA preferred but not required.
  • 10+ years of experience in marketing, events, or retail within the athletic industry.
  • 5+ years of experience managing and developing high-performance teams.
  • Strong collaboration, influence, and mentorship skills.
  • Proven leadership in supervising teams and leading strategic business objectives.
  • Ability to develop productive relationships across diverse disciplines and cultural backgrounds.
  • Curious, open-minded, inventive, and creative with a willingness to challenge the status quo.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including storytelling, presentation, and meeting facilitation.
  • Expertise in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Smartsheet.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with sponsorship negotiations and contract management.
  • Experience in event product lifecycle management.
  • Knowledge of the athletic or running industry.

Qualifications
