About the Role

The Senior Marketing & Communications Coordinator performs complex and advanced level support development and implementation of public information, public relations, and public education programs. The role involves supervising staff in projects and managing various communication and marketing initiatives for the Regional Transportation Commission, with a focus on internal and external audiences. The position may require working shifts on days, evenings, weekends, and holidays, and involves engaging with stakeholders, media, and the community to promote RTC programs and issues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plans, assigns, develops, and implements strategic marketing, media relations, social media, advertising, digital communication, and communication plans.
  • Suggests methods by which to accomplish the goals in the plans and implements them in a timely manner regarding RTC-related programs and issues.
  • Assigns and reviews work of staff on a project or team.
  • Assists in managing situations with public relations implications and develops timely responses to the media as needed.
  • Monitors and evaluates the efficiency and effectiveness of media relations and public information programs, making recommendations accordingly.
  • Oversees the preparation and publication of printed materials, newsletters, and media events.
  • Composes articles, scripts, website content, talking points, presentations, and brochures for internal and external use.
  • Represents the RTC in meetings with groups or individuals, answering queries and providing information/assistance.
  • Supports executive leadership with presentation development, public relations, and other communications needs.
  • Conducts and independently completes a variety of special projects as assigned by supervisor.
  • Participates in professional development sessions or seminars to stay current on trends and developments in the field.

Requirements

  • Equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree in communication, journalism, marketing, or a closely related field.
  • Five (5) years of demonstrated professional public relations, marketing, or journalism experience.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Class C Driver's License at time of application.
  • Employment contingent upon a comprehensive background investigation, including education/experience verification, social security trace, criminal history records review, and driving history records check.
  • Ability to strategize, create, manage, and implement complex communication and marketing campaigns and projects.
  • Demonstrated experience communicating complex technical information to a lay audience.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to develop, implement, and recap media relations, community engagement, and marketing activities.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating and convening internal and external stakeholders to move marketing and communication projects.

Nice to Have

  • Experience operating office equipment and associated software.
  • Experience in public relations and media management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in communication, journalism, marketing, or a closely related field.
  • Five (5) years of relevant professional experience.
