About the Role

The Sage Groups' Client, a software company that specializes in creating collaboration and work management tools for teams, is seeking a Senior Marketing Data Scientist to join their Audience Targeting and Optimization analytics team. In this role, you will work closely with stakeholders to define and build audiences and models for product marketing messages and event marketing campaigns by querying relational databases. The position involves leveraging data to develop strategies, improve products, and influence business roadmaps.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct in-depth data discovery and technical expertise to recommend and curate the ideal customer segmentation for customer messaging (marketing & non-marketing).
  • Collaborate on a variety of product and business problems with a diverse set of cross-functional partners and be a trusted strategic partner through the structure and clarity of your work.
  • Apply technical expertise with quantitative analysis, experimentation, and data presentation to develop strategies and solve the business's biggest challenges.
  • Focus on developing hypotheses through analytical approaches, methodologies, frameworks, and technical approaches to test them.
  • Define, understand, and test opportunities to improve products and business, influencing roadmaps through insights and recommendations.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to inform, influence, and execute strategy decisions.
  • Identify and measure the success of product efforts through forecasting and monitoring key product metrics to understand trends.
  • Use data to shape product development, quantify new opportunities, identify challenges, and ensure products bring value to users and businesses.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in analytics mining data for insights and recommendations.
  • 5+ years of experience with relational databases and SQL query languages (Python is a plus).
  • Advanced proficiency with SQL; SparkSQL syntax is a plus.
  • Business Intelligence experience (e.g., Tableau, Looker, Sisense).
  • Experience managing technical projects end-to-end, including schema discovery, documentation, work estimation, status reporting, and stakeholder-facing documentation.
  • Clear, effective verbal and written communication skills, including active listening and problem-solving.
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguous data environments.
