About the Role

Zurich North America is hiring a Senior Project Leader to join our team in either Schaumburg, IL or Anoka, MN. This role focuses on large, highly complex projects within the insurance industry, involving business systems integration, operational transformation, and process reengineering. The position requires leveraging deep industry knowledge to drive strategic initiatives, manage project delivery, and serve as a trusted advisor between business and IT. Key Responsibilities

  • Delivers solutions for large, highly complex projects.
  • Defines business problem and accompanying business case/benchmarking.
  • Understands customer's processes, products, services, and systems to recommend improvements; possesses domain knowledge in areas such as underwriting, claims, and distribution.
  • Builds and owns relationships with management and business partners throughout the project cycle.
  • Leads and executes solution design, including metrics and measures, and manages implementation and change activities.
  • Maintains project records in accordance with Project Management standards.
  • Leads post-implementation review and shares findings for continuous improvement.
  • Establishes project direction, defines key results, develops plans, and identifies critical success factors.
  • Develops and reviews business case, CBA, risk assessment, and project plan with the project sponsor.
  • Engages and consults with internal and external parties throughout the project.
  • Provides business design, manages interdependencies across projects, and communicates updates to stakeholders.
  • Eliminates roadblocks, resolves issues, and aligns organizational efforts.
  • Ensures metrics and measures are incorporated for continuous improvement.
  • Manages strategic go/no-go decisions.
  • Partners with key business leaders to develop operational transformation strategy.
  • Provides thought leadership in areas of expertise to drive strategy and challenge current/future states.
  • Develops hypotheses, reviews analysis, and socializes recommendations for process and operational improvements.
  • Leads future state design and acts as a business improvement SME.
  • Develops user requirements, functional design, use cases, and testing scenarios.
  • Ensures timely creation of project deliverables and reviews testing strategies and results.
  • Approves project phase deliverables and ensures compliance with change processes.
  • Manages vendor engagements and prioritization of system enhancements and issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and 7 or more years of experience in Communications, Strategic Management, or Project Management.
  • OR High School Diploma or Equivalent and 9 or more years of experience in the same areas.
  • OR Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree with 7 or more years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in strategic and operational consulting or business systems.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with project management tools and methodologies, including SDLC.
  • Experience in organizational change management and strategy.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in Guidewire Claims or Underwriting IT projects or SDLC for these applications.
  • PMP Certification.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills including Microsoft Project.

Qualifications

  • Educational qualifications as specified in requirements (Bachelor's, High School, or Zurich Certified Apprentice with experience).
