About the Role

The Senior Social Media & Platform Editor for WSJ. Magazine & Style News is a full-time role based in New York, NY, reporting to the Platforms Director of WSJ. Magazine. The position involves leading all social media efforts for the magazine, shaping, amplifying, and growing its digital identity across platforms. The candidate will work closely with design, editorial, and video teams to ensure content reaches and engages audiences in innovative ways, embodying the magazine's luxury style and sharp editorial voice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the magazine's social media presence across a variety of platforms.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the magazine's existing social media accounts.
  • Develop, film, edit and execute social-only video franchises to bring in new audiences.
  • Work with the Design team to translate stories to social platforms.
  • Represent the magazine at events on our beat to capture relevant content.
  • Identify opportunities to evolve or refresh existing social strategies, especially on emerging platforms.
  • Bring energy and creative flair to growing the digital visual language of WSJ. Magazine.
  • Hone the WSJ. Magazine voice across social platforms.
  • Analyze audience data to grow reach and develop systematic growth plans.
  • Ensure high-quality, ethical, and standards-compliant content across all platforms.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years experience running social media strategy for a brand or publisher.
  • A sharp sense of what digital audiences are talking about and how to connect with them.
  • Photo and video editing skills with knowledge of tools like PhotoShop, Final Cut Pro, After Effects.
  • Experience as a video or multimedia producer is preferred but not required.
  • Outgoing personality and sharp wit to energize videos filmed in various settings.
  • Sound editorial judgment and understanding of WSJ's publishing standards.
  • Deep familiarity with social-media publishing and analytics tools.
  • Experience managing a budget is preferred but not required.

Nice to Have

  • Experience as a video or multimedia producer.

Qualifications

  • Experience managing social media for a brand or publisher.
  • Proficiency with industry tools like PhotoShop, Final Cut Pro, After Effects.
  • Understanding of social-media publishing and analytics tools.
