About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and collaborative Senior Data Scientist with a strong background in marketing analytics to join our team at Udemy. In this role, you will partner closely with the Marketing team to improve ROI of our marketing initiatives utilizing your expertise in statistical modeling, machine learning, and data mining techniques to uncover actionable insights from complex datasets. The position involves working in a collaborative environment with Product, Design, and Engineering teams, and contributing to impactful analytics projects in a marketing or consumer-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner marketing stakeholders to refine marketing initiatives by defining clear problem statements, utilizing predictive modeling to identify target audiences, assessing opportunities, and recommending effective testing and measurement strategies.
  • Lead the implementation of Media Mix Models to develop global budget allocation strategy and recommend optimal marketing spend across channels and tactics.
  • Help establish a marketing measurement framework alongside MMM based on incrementality testing using Geo-based targeting, causal inference, A/B testing and other experimentation methodologies.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of marketing performance metrics, customer behavior, and market trends to identify growth opportunities and improve ROI.
  • Utilize advanced statistical techniques to build attribution models, analyze customer journeys, and optimize conversion funnels across various marketing channels.
  • Develop dashboards and visualizations to effectively communicate insights and KPIs to stakeholders, enabling data-driven decision-making at all levels of the organization.
  • Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies in data science and marketing analytics, and apply them to enhance analytical capabilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or higher in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, or related quantitative field.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in data science, with a proven track record of applying advanced predictive modeling techniques to drive business impact.
  • Strong proficiency in statistical analysis and machine learning, with expertise in media mix modeling, causal inference methods, forecasting, regression, and time series modeling.
  • Experience with data pipelining tools such as DBT and Airflow, and proficiency in SQL for data extraction and manipulation.
  • Command over programming languages such as Python for data analysis and automation.
  • Familiarity with Business Intelligence tools such as Tableau, with a strong understanding of best practices for dashboarding and visualization.
  • Leadership and communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex concepts clearly and effectively to stakeholders.

Nice to Have

  • Experience applying causal inference methods and experimental design in marketing analytics.
  • Knowledge of additional data analysis or visualization tools beyond Tableau.
  • Previous experience working in a fast-paced, innovative tech environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant quantitative field.
  • 10+ years of experience in data science, particularly in marketing analytics or related areas.
