About the Role

This position will function as the Senior Vice President of Marketing for CubeSmart and will lead the strategic direction of the Marketing function from our headquarters in Malvern, PA. This individual will be responsible for driving growth across all marketing platforms, oversee a $45mm+ marketing budget (85% of which will be utilized for digital marketing) and a team of 15+ teammates to develop and drive the execution of strategic marketing plans to meet CubeSmart's short- and long-term business objectives, and provide the expertise and roadmap for increasing market share through customer attraction, conversion and retention. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Senior Vice President of Marketing serves as a vital member of CubeSmart's officer team. The role requires an innovator with a creative mind capable of crafting new ways to gain market share through novel yet practical approaches while maintaining best practice philosophy. The candidate should have experience leading or being a senior member of a leadership team that has designed or recreated digital marketing strategies for a brick-and-mortar B2C company, resulting in online conversions of digitally generated leads to customer purchases. Direct experience in digital marketing, including organic, paid search, social media, website oversight, brand management, and traditional marketing functions, is strongly desired.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a key and active member of CubeSmart's officer team, participating in and leading cross-functional strategic projects with high visibility.
  • Develop, champion, and implement the Marketing vision, strategy, and supporting roadmaps aligned with the company's long-term business strategy and value creation objectives.
  • Establish collaborative relationships with all business partners to understand their needs and develop strategies, solutions, and organizational structures to meet long-term planning needs.
  • Continuously evaluate market trends and adjust strategies to capitalize on shifts in the marketplace.
  • Exhibit deep knowledge of the competitive landscape, including REIT competitors' practices, and implement strategies to drive performance.
  • Work closely with senior leadership to ensure marketing strategies, initiatives, and communications are seamlessly delivered and implemented.
  • Create communication pathways to promote sharing of marketing metrics and best practices across the organization.
  • Lead development and implementation of B2C and B2B marketing efforts, including SEO, SEM, paid media, brand management, digital and social media campaigns, and in-store marketing programs.
  • Lead the development and execution of the strategic and annual business plan for marketing.
  • Set priorities and implement processes to drive business results, ensuring processes produce measurable results.
  • Regularly analyze markets for competitiveness, market share growth, revenue, and profitability.
  • Collaborate with Revenue Management, Operations, Finance, and IT to review performance, refine marketing efforts, and coordinate strategies.
  • Assess, develop, and ensure marketing efforts are effective and efficient, meeting organizational needs.
  • Identify, select, negotiate, and manage vendor and external partner relationships, ensuring cost-effective service delivery.
  • Review and approve external expressions of the CubeSmart brand, including website changes, in-store design, campaigns, and signage.
  • Monitor marketing metrics to maximize customer capture, revenues, profitability, and market share, and develop metrics for program effectiveness.
  • Develop and manage a broad marketing budget, approve expenditures, monitor performance, and reallocate resources as needed.
  • Create an engaging team culture, communicate a shared vision, recognize contributions, and hold teammates accountable.
  • Assess skills and talent, recruit, develop, and train team members, and develop succession plans.
  • Lead and mentor the marketing team and vendors responsible for key platforms and technology services.
  • Represent the marketing function professionally, lead presentations and strategic discussions with stakeholders, and foster a customer-centric environment.
  • Respond promptly to customer complaints, resolve issues, and promote the WOW! Customer service model.
  • Serve as a stakeholder to the Customer Service Committee and liaise with senior leadership to align efforts with company strategy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, or relevant field; MBA preferred.
  • Minimum of 15 years' marketing leadership experience in a multi-unit, retail, and e-commerce environment across diverse, high-growth markets.
  • Technical marketing leadership experience in SEO, SEM, web analytics, CRM software, and digital marketing tools and techniques.
  • Public company experience is a plus.
  • Success in creating and implementing innovative marketing strategies and solutions.
  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Creative mindset with proven innovation in managing complex business challenges.
  • Excellent business acumen and financial skills, with ability to develop and manage budgets.
  • High initiative, able to set priorities, anticipate needs, and focus on driving results.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, or relevant field.
