About the Role

The Project Coordinator will assist the Program Manager with the overall coordination of a three-year project focused on supporting young Alaska Native men through summer academies and community-based programming in six communities. The role involves working closely with the Program Manager and Project Assistant to ensure the project follows its schedule and achieves its goals, objectives, and outcomes. The position is based at the Walter Soboleff Building and various schools within the Juneau School District, with potential regional travel.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in the monthly project Leadership Team meetings and create the Project Orientation/Training Schedule, reviewing it monthly with the Leadership Team.
  • Ensure all project staff, contractors, collaborators, and participants receive project orientation.
  • Coordinate and/or assist in coordinating all training for project staff and contractors.
  • Coordinate the Leadership Team's recruitment and selection of 24 harvesting mentors to provide experiential instruction for the young Native men served by the project.
  • Oversee background screenings of all individuals who will have contact with the project's two cohorts of 30 young Alaska Native men.
  • Coordinate the Leadership Team's recruitment and selection of two cohorts of 30 young Alaska Native men.
  • Lead the coordination efforts for the project's two summer academies.
  • Coordinate the monthly project staff meetings with harvesting mentors and the Instructor of Record providing community-based instruction.
  • Coordinate the administration of the project's pre/post surveys, track their timely completion, and ensure all young Native men complete their surveys on time.
  • Document project activities, outputs, and outcomes in accordance with the project's evaluation plan.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated high level of verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and activities with attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills in program coordination.
  • Experience documenting project activities for tracking performance measures and reporting.
  • Technical capacity and expertise in using charts, tables, graphs, spreadsheets, and databases.
  • Knowledge of Southeast Alaska Native culture and communities.
  • High School Diploma.
  • Two years of professional work experience in administrative or project-related positions.
  • Experience with recruiting and retaining project participants.
  • Experience working with Alaska Native youth.
  • Experience coordinating travel within Alaska.
