About the Role

The Social Media and Marketing Assistant at the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles (LA Catholics) is responsible for managing and executing social media strategies, creating promotional materials, and supporting the church's communication efforts across various digital platforms. The role involves engaging with the community, promoting events, and enhancing the church's online presence to reflect its values and mission.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, manage, and execute social media strategies on platforms including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube.
  • Create engaging posts, graphics, and videos that reflect the church's values, events, and messages, aligning with the church's branding and mission.
  • Respond to comments, messages, and interactions on social media in a timely and respectful manner.
  • Monitor social media trends, audience engagement, and analytics to improve social media efforts.
  • Manage the creation, organization, management, and submission of the weekly print church bulletin and upload it to the website.
  • Research other parishes to enhance the church bulletin and redesign it as needed for different seasons and updates.
  • Assist with proofing the weekly newsletter and inputting graphics for events and programs.
  • Design and upload event graphics to the parish website weekly, keeping website details updated.
  • Design promotional materials such as digital flyers, banners, postcards, brochures, and rack cards.
  • Attend events as needed to capture photos and videos for promotional use.
  • Promote church events across social media, the website, and community boards.
  • Engage with online communities and faith-based groups to spread awareness and foster community involvement.
  • Create video content to engage parishioners and reach younger audiences.
  • Support the church's wider communications strategy with administrative tasks and new promotional ideas.

Requirements

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent technical, computer, and mobile device skills.
  • Understanding of messaging coordination across bulletin, website, social media, and digital platforms.
  • Experience creating video content around liturgical schedules.
  • Familiarity with major social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, X, TikTok, and YouTube.
  • Experience with graphic design tools like Canva and Adobe CreativeSuite.
  • Experience with video editing software such as iMovie, Adobe Premiere, or Final Cut Pro.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
