About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Create, design, and produce engaging content tailored to various social media platforms, including but not limited to Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, TikTok, Pinterest, LinkedIn, YouTube, and other emerging platforms.
• Ensure content aligns with brand strategies, focusing on user-first content that drives engagement and meets department goals.
• Collaborate with the social media team to brainstorm and execute innovative ideas for content that enhances brand presence and fosters community engagement.
• Assist in the management and execution of social media campaigns across Churchill Downs and Kentucky Derby official channels.
• Monitor and adapt content development to align with platform-specific trends and audience behaviors.
• Stay updated on the latest social media trends, tools, and best practices, and apply this knowledge to improve content effectiveness.
• Cultivate and manage community engagement across social media platforms, responding to comments, messages, and interactions in a timely and brand-appropriate manner.
• Build relationships with followers, influencers, and brand advocates to enhance the community and drive positive interactions.
• Track and analyze the performance of social media content using analytics tools, providing insights and recommendations to optimize future content.
• Report on key metrics and KPIs to the social media team and management, helping to refine strategies and achieve department goals.

Requirements

• Undergraduate degree (preferably in social media or a related field).
• Demonstrate proficiency in creating content for TikTok, Instagram Reels, and other short-form content platforms.
• Photography/Videography experience, including shooting and editing content designed for social media platforms.
• Knowledge and experience in Cap Cut and Adobe Creative Cloud.
• Graphic & motion design skills, including proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and After Effects a plus.
• Exceptional attention to detail.
• Experience utilizing content management systems.
• Strong written and communication skills, tailored to the unique nuances of each social platform.
• Thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and collaborate effectively within a team.
• A willingness to learn about emerging forms of digital & social media, industry trends, and best practices.
• Ability to analyze social media data and trends to organize it into actionable insights.
• Availability to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays as needed, depending on game schedule and events.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects and deadlines.

Nice to Have

• Experience in expanding brand presence into emerging social media platforms.
• Knowledge of social media analytics tools and the ability to interpret data to inform content strategies.
• Familiarity with the equine, sports or entertainment industry is a plus.
• Experience with Meta Business Suite and X Media Studio is a plus.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree (preferably in social media or a related field).
