Social Media Student Assistant, Presidents Office

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, creating, and scheduling content for the president's social media platforms (Instagram, LinkedIn).
• Capture and edit photos/videos for digital marketing campaigns and social posts.
• Support on-site social media coverage and live updates for events involving the president.
• Write compelling captions that reflect the University's tone and the president's voice.
• Engage with online communities by responding to comments, messages, and mentions.
• Help monitor social media trends and analyze performance metrics to optimize content and engagement.
• Collaborate with the Office of Strategic Communications and Marketing's social media team to brainstorm ideas and opportunities.
• Represent the Office of the President at campus-wide student resource events.
• Serve as a brand ambassador, including appearing on camera for social content.
• Assist with front-line communication, greet visitors professionally, and answer telephones.
• Assist with sorting incoming mail, making on-campus deliveries, and clerical projects such as organizing and creating binders.
• Assist with scheduling availability for the President's Office Conference Room.
• Provide support to various office staff, including preparing and tracking forms, drafting correspondence, and assisting with research projects.
• Assist with event preparations, such as designing flyers, creating presentations, and room setup.

Requirements

• Undergraduate students must be enrolled in a minimum of six (6) units for Fall/Spring or in a graduate program with at least four (4) units.
• Must have received and accepted a Financial Aid award for the current semester/year.
• Demonstrates excellent verbal communication, listening, and customer service skills.
• Ability to respond calmly and professionally under pressure.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Intermediate computer skills, including knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Experience with social media platforms and content creation.
• Familiarity with social media content editing tools such as Canva, Adobe Express, CapCut, or similar.
• Availability to work during breaks including summer, winter, and spring.
• Self-motivated with good organizational skills, detail-oriented, and able to prioritize and multi-task.

Nice to Have

• Photography or video editing skills.
• Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite.
• Experience working on-campus.

Qualifications
