Software Engineer

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Perform software studies to find replacements for existing mission software
• Perform trade studies and proof of concept development and testing
• Develop new software release processes
• Review, analyze, and modify programming systems including encoding, testing, debugging, and installing to support application systems
• Consult with users to identify current operating procedures and clarify program objectives
• Coordinate closely with team members, Product Owners, and Scrum Masters to ensure User Story alignment and implementation to customer use cases
• Analyze and coordinate infrastructure needs driven by developed software to meet customer mission needs through demonstrations, proof of concept, performance, and end-to-end testing
• Determine operational feasibility by evaluating analysis, problem definition, requirements, solution development, and proposed solutions
• Document and demonstrate solutions by developing documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, code comments, and clear code
• Prepare and install solutions by determining and designing system specifications, standards, and programming
• Improve operations by conducting systems analysis and recommending changes in policies and procedures
• Develop software solutions by studying information needs, conferring with users, studying systems flow, data usage, and work processes, and investigating problem areas
• Support testing by writing and executing automated test scripts and unit tests

Requirements

• Ability to obtain an active secret security clearance
• US Citizenship
• Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts with 3 years of related experience
• Experience in software development using Java, C, and/or C++
• Experience in at least one of the following: Linux, Unix, Pearl/Python
• Testing/Scripting experience
• Willingness to travel up to 25%

Nice to Have

• An active Secret clearance or higher
• Experience writing and executing test scripts
• Experience on DoD programs and interaction with government stakeholders, with SCN experience being a plus
• Experience using COTS tools such as VersionOne, GitHub, SharePoint, Fortify
• Experience writing custom simulations
• Agile Software Development experience
• Agile certifications (software development oriented)

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree
