About the Role

This is a hybrid role requiring onsite work at Cisco's San Jose, CA office. The position is part of Cisco's Enterprise Access Switching Group, a leader in enterprise networking, working within the Software development team to develop revolutionary switching technologies for high-speed, dedicated switches in the Access/Campus market segments. The role involves working with a passionate, quality-focused engineering team on innovative networking solutions, with opportunities for continuous learning and organizational contribution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in a project team of engineers involved in software development for next-generation campus switching architectures.
  • Define, architect, design, and deliver new software and features for campus switching platforms.
  • Implement tests, track and log issues, and drive them to resolution with verification of bug fixes.
  • Create new features, understand the functionality of competitive products, and propose solutions for the platform.
  • Write functional and design specifications, program, perform unit and integration testing of code.
  • Assist with reviewing specifications and code for other engineers, and support documentation related to features.

Requirements

  • Typically requires MSEE/CS with 3-5 years of related experience or BSEE/CS with 6-8 years of experience.
  • Strong design and programming ethic.
  • Proficiency in large-scale system design in C/C++ environments.
  • Extensive experience in designing networking systems with Forwarding, Security, ACL, and VXLAN (Overlay) technologies.
  • Good understanding of various networking protocols and standards.
  • Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
