About the Role

Google's software engineers develop the next-generation technologies that change how billions of users connect, explore, and interact with information and one another. The Geo team focuses on building the most accurate, comprehensive, and useful maps for users through products like Maps, Earth, Street View, and Google Maps Platform. They solve complex computer science problems, design intuitive product experiences, and improve understanding of the real world. The role involves working on projects used by billions daily, with opportunities to switch teams and projects as the business evolves.

Key Responsibilities

Write product or system development code.
Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
Develop and support the back-end infrastructure that serves the current and new Geo user generated contents.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.
Experience with C++.
Experience with backend software development.

Nice to Have

Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields.
2 years of experience with data structures or algorithms.
Experience with performance optimization.
Experience with debugging.
Experience working with Borg Cron.
Experience developing accessible technologies.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

Benefits & Perks

US base salary range for this full-time position is $141,000-$202,000 plus bonus, equity, and benefits.
Salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location, with individual pay influenced by work location, skills, experience, and education.
