About the Role

The Senior Director, Global Brand at PayPal is a strategic and creative leadership role responsible for shaping and evolving PayPal's brand identity, voice, and tone across all consumer and business touchpoints. The role involves developing brand strategy, guiding creative expression, and ensuring consistent brand messaging to drive awareness, affinity, and growth for a global fintech leader. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and articulate a clear, compelling vision and strategy focused on enhancing PayPal's marketing strategy and brand identity that inspires others.
  • Oversee and direct the development of creative strategies, content programs, and campaigns with direct impact on revenue, expenses, and growth.
  • Negotiate with and influence the decision-making of senior internal and external executives and decision-makers.
  • Create operational and strategic objectives and plans for fostering brand loyalty using domain knowledge and extensive expertise.
  • Provide guidance to cross-functional and cross-organizational teams focused on business transformation across PayPal.
  • Identify and resolve strategic problems or issues by developing new or innovative solutions.
  • Lead the development and global implementation of PayPal's brand strategy rooted in customer insight, competitive positioning, and company vision.
  • Own and evolve the brand's core elements: voice, tone, behavior, narrative, naming, architecture, and design systems.
  • Drive brand governance and architecture across PayPal's product and services portfolio, balancing consistency with local and cultural relevance.
  • Set the creative vision and define the bar for excellence in brand storytelling, advertising, and communications.
  • Inspire creative teams to deliver bold, emotionally resonant work across campaigns, content, and experiences.
  • Architect and launch cross-functional, insight-led global campaigns that drive measurable brand and business outcomes.
  • Collaborate with Product, Communications, Customer Experience, and Leadership to embed brand thinking across the organization.
  • Leverage brand health metrics, market research, and cultural intelligence to identify opportunities and guide strategic decisions.
  • Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing global brand and creative team, fostering a culture of creativity, curiosity, and innovation.
  • Bring a forward-looking perspective to brand building, exploring emerging platforms, AI technologies, and digital tools.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 18 years of relevant work experience and a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • 14+ years of progressive experience in global brand strategy, marketing, and creative leadership within high-growth or Fortune 500 organizations.
  • 7+ years in senior leadership roles managing multidisciplinary brand, design, and creative teams.
  • Demonstrated success in driving brand transformation and leading large-scale global campaigns with quantifiable impact.
  • Expertise in brand positioning, narrative development, identity systems, tone of voice, and integrated marketing strategy.
  • Strong executive presence and influence, with the ability to align diverse stakeholders and present confidently at the C-level.
  • Deep understanding of consumer research, brand health tracking, and campaign analytics.
  • Experience in fintech, technology, lifestyle, or other consumer-driven global industries is strongly preferred.
  • Passion for creativity, innovation, and culture, with the ability to leverage AI and emerging technologies to enhance brand effectiveness.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • At least 18 years of relevant work experience in brand strategy, marketing, or related fields.
