This opportunity entails managing assigned project(s) throughout their full lifecycle, including developing scope and technical sections of proposals, participating in contract negotiations, and overseeing project delivery to ensure quality work, on time, on budget, and client satisfaction. The role involves proactively managing budgets, schedules, technical requirements, contractual obligations, and client communications, providing high-level technical tasks, and coordinating with internal and external partners to address design issues. The Sr. Project Manager - Bridges typically manages multi-disciplinary project teams for projects ranging from $1M to over $25M, or leads discipline-specific roles on larger projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for development of the project scope and fee quotation and assists in the preparation of technical proposals and contracts in accordance with HNTB's Sophisticated Contracting Approach (SCA).
  • Serves as the primary client liaison and manages the project team to deliver the scope, schedule, and budgets to completion and to the client's satisfaction. Leads client contract scoping and negotiations.
  • Performs technical discipline tasks including analysis, reports, design, specification, and production for assigned projects.
  • Implements the firm's project delivery plan using HNTB's Sophisticated Delivery Approach (SDA) on each project. Leads the development and the execution of the project management plan.
  • Supervises and mentors project team members to achieve overall project objectives.
  • Responsible for project staffing, including recruitment, development, retention, and succession planning, as well as supporting performance and compensation reviews.
  • Partners with Client Service Leaders and pursuit champions to assist with business development, building client relationships, and pursuit efforts for mega and super mega projects.
  • Leads proposal development and interview presentations for strategic projects and industry/community events.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 12 years of relevant experience.
  • 4 years of successful management of engineering projects.
  • Experience delivering multi-disciplined or large/complex projects on time, on budget, with quality, and client satisfaction.
  • Ability to identify and handle risk and change management independently.
  • Experience leading large teams including external sub-consultants.
  • Proficiency with system tools to manage, monitor, and deliver complex projects.
  • Experience leading HNTB's project delivery processes and serving as the client interface.
  • Ability to deploy talent to other projects and develop successors for ongoing client work.

Nice to Have

  • Master's degree in Engineering.
  • 15 years relevant experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • 12 years of relevant experience.
  • 4 years of project management experience.
