About the Role

The SVP of Demand Generation and Growth Marketing at Synchrony is responsible for leading performance marketing efforts across paid, organic, and owned media channels. This role involves driving measurable growth, innovation, and business impact through operational leadership, strategic planning, and technical expertise. The leader will collaborate cross-functionally to optimize media strategies, enhance customer acquisition and retention, and ensure alignment with broader business objectives in a data-driven, innovative environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and shape the performance marketing media and channel strategy to drive measurable growth and maximize ROI across digital/traditional paid, organic, and owned media channels.
  • Manage and refine media measurement frameworks to assess campaign effectiveness across all channels.
  • Oversee account management and direct channel teams to maximize collaboration, performance, and outcomes across client relationships and marketing initiatives.
  • Foster strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, providing expert counsel to positively impact the business and drive long-term partnerships.
  • Drive data-driven marketing campaign innovation, activation, and execution leveraging analytics and consumer insights to optimize performance and profitability.
  • Utilize advanced marketing technologies, including machine learning and AI, to enhance customer acquisition and engagement campaigns.
  • Lead cross-channel audience segmentation and targeting based on customer journey insights to improve acquisition, retention, and lifecycle marketing.
  • Serve as a marketing transformation leader, promoting a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure seamless integration between creative and media strategies to deliver cohesive, high-impact campaigns.
  • Partner with Analytics, Brand, Consumer Engagement, Corporate Communication, and Platform teams to align marketing initiatives with business goals.
  • Analyze market landscapes and consumer trends to inform strategic recommendations and develop differentiated strategies.
  • Identify data gaps in campaigns and suggest alternative sources or metrics to improve tracking and reporting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or high school diploma/GED with 15+ years of progressive marketing experience.
  • 12+ years of experience leading performance marketing initiatives across paid, organic, and owned channels in complex, data-driven environments.
  • 6+ years of experience managing and mentoring high-performance teams and leading enterprise-wide initiatives.
  • Strong ability to develop integrated marketing strategies and navigate competitive landscapes.
  • Proficiency with advanced marketing technologies, including analytics platforms, audience segmentation tools, machine learning applications, and proprietary methods.
  • Exceptional cross-functional collaboration skills and ability to rally teams around shared goals.
  • Keen analytical skills to translate market trends and data insights into actionable strategies.
  • Experience with media measurement frameworks.

Nice to Have

  • MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • Experience in consumer financial services, credit card, retail, or regulated industries.
  • Leadership experience in large-scale in-house operations in the US and India.
  • Ability to cultivate strategic relationships with industry leaders, partners, and influencers.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED with 15+ years of marketing experience.
  • Alternatively, a Bachelor's degree with extensive experience in performance marketing.

Benefits & Perks

  • Annual salary range of $235,000 to $390,000, with potential annual incentive plan target of 30% of salary and equity target of 30% of salary.
  • Salary adjustments based on market in CA, NY Metro, and Seattle.
  • Eligibility for performance-based bonuses and equity incentives.
