The SVP, Product and Strategy will serve as a key member of the Optum Rx Executive Leadership Team, responsible for leading the OptumRx product management function as well as the Strategy function, overseeing the full lifecycle of products, driving innovation, and evaluating growth opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership for the Optum Rx product portfolio, ensuring that on-market products deliver on their business cases, meet NPS and financial targets, and evolve in response to market dynamics.
  • Oversee the development and execution of product roadmaps, enhancements, and sunsetting strategies, ensuring products are positioned for growth and aligned with client and consumer needs.
  • Build and scale the product management infrastructure, including forecasting, budgeting, resource planning, performance tracking, and results reporting.
  • Lead long-range strategic planning and business incubation for Optum Rx, integrating input from business units and functional partners to create a unified, forward-looking roadmap.
  • Identify, evaluate, and operationalize new business models and services aligned with enterprise growth goals.
  • Serve as a unifying force across all Optum Rx strategy teams, ensuring alignment of goals, priorities, and execution plans.
  • Oversee M&A strategy and strategic partnerships, including opportunity assessment and integration planning, collaborating with internal stakeholders to evaluate and execute inorganic growth opportunities.
  • Embed product management discipline across the organization by leading change management efforts, establishing governance, and driving adoption of key processes.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team of product, operations, and strategy leaders, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Engage directly with clients, prospects, and consumers to gather insights, validate product strategies, and ensure market relevance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 15+ years of experience in product management, general management, operations leadership, or strategy roles
  • Proven success managing large-scale product portfolios and P&Ls
  • Deep healthcare experience, including knowledge of payer, PBM, and health services sectors
  • Demonstrated ability to lead in complex, matrixed environments and influence without authority
  • Strong financial acumen, strategic thinking, and operational execution skills
  • Experience building and scaling product management functions and infrastructure
  • Exceptional communication, stakeholder engagement, and change leadership capabilities
  • Demonstrated success in launching new businesses or products with large IOI potential
  • Experience managing a P&L and leading large-scale product or business teams
  • Strong strategic thinking, financial modeling, and executive communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple complex initiatives simultaneously

Nice to Have

  • Advanced degree (MBA, MHA) from a top-tier program
  • Experience with pharmacy benefits, affordability solutions, or healthcare technology platforms
  • Knowledge of the pharmacy benefits market
