Job Description

About the Role

The Technical Marketing Manager is responsible for providing technical expertise to support sales and marketing efforts within Lubrizol's Performance Coatings business unit. The role focuses on promoting and supporting the Surface Modifier platform, including wax additives and dispersions, primarily targeting customers in paints, coatings, inks, and packaging segments across Europe. The position involves building customer relationships, technical support, business development, and driving sustainable growth through eco-friendly solutions, with a strong emphasis on collaboration and market understanding.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key accounts and partners across the European region.
  • Act as the primary technical point of contact, understanding client needs, challenges, and business objectives.
  • Conduct regular client meetings, site visits, and product demonstrations to strengthen partnerships.
  • Support Sales and Marketing with technical expertise to advise customers, develop selling tools, deliver training, obtain technical approval, and support new product launches.
  • Maintain accurate records of field activities, customer interactions, and pipeline updates in the CRM system.
  • Develop and manage pipeline with growth opportunities.
  • Work in collaboration with strategic and global marketing to identify growth opportunities in focus segments.
  • Build strong relationships with PCG laboratories across Europe.
  • Write technical projects to deliver unique/differentiated products.
  • Support new product launches into the region.
  • Collaborate with technical and R&D teams to provide customized solutions meeting customer specifications.
  • Provide expertise in product applications, including coatings formulations, performance characteristics, and industry standards.
  • Address customer inquiries and resolve issues related to product performance, delivery, or quality.
  • Drive sustainable growth by promoting eco-friendly solutions compliant with EU regulations.
  • Partner with R&D and marketing to position sustainable products as competitive differentiators.
  • Develop strategies with commercial teams to expand market share in Europe, focusing on long-term partnerships aligned with sustainability goals.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and regulatory changes to inform sales strategies.
  • Collaborate with marketing to develop targeted campaigns, technical collateral, and customer training programs.
  • Work closely with the European management team on business and resourcing matters.
  • Coordinate with supply chain and operations to ensure product availability and timely delivery.
  • Provide customer feedback to product development teams to drive innovation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of sales experience in the chemical, paints, and coatings industry.
  • Background within waxes and surface modification is ideal.
  • Experience in customer relationship management, pipeline development, and opportunity management in B2B settings.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, fluency in English and German; additional European languages are a plus.
  • Technical understanding of paints and coatings applications.
  • Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Willingness to travel extensively across Europe (up to 60%).
  • Valid driver's license and passport for international travel.
