Job Description

About the Role

CACI is seeking a Test Engineer to support Hull Form and Propulsor Testing at the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division (NSWCCD) located in Bethesda, MD. The Test Engineer will lead testing and analysis related to fluid mechanics focusing on the execution of model-scale submarine, surface ship, and propeller test programs.

Key Responsibilities

Test Engineer responsibilities include experimental test planning, experimental design, instrumentation selection and development to meet test objectives, software development for acquisition and analysts, and cavitation testing.
Develop and present programmatic and technical briefings to upper leadership.
Execute hydrodynamic model testing including model design, instrumentation setup, and data analysis.
Support cavitation investigations and advanced experimental techniques as needed.

Requirements

Ability to receive and maintain a SECRET clearance.
Bachelor's in an Engineering discipline and 7+ years of experience.
Knowledge of engineering practices, physics, mathematics, hydrodynamics, and experimented fluid mechanics.
Ability to perform hydrodynamic model testing including experience in model design, instrumentation setup, software development for data acquisition and analysis.
Knowledge of CAD tools such as Rhino, AutoCAD, and/or Solidworks.
Knowledge of experimental data acquisition, controls, and analysis software including LabVIEW, MatLab, C/C++, and Python.
Experience with project management and test program execution.
Ability to communicate orally and in writing.

Nice to Have

Experience with experimental cavitation investigations.
Experience with wind, water tunnel, cavitation channels and/or tow tank testing including model setup, instrumentation, and test procedures.
Extensive knowledge of high-speed camera operation and lighting.
Experience developing and utilizing automatic image analysis.
Experience in operation of high-powered lasers.
Understanding data storage on servers.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline.
7+ years of relevant experience.
