UI/UX Human Centered Design Specialist

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Provide UI/UX Subject Matter Expertise with deep knowledge of Human-Centered Design and design thinking methodologies.
• Provide expert guidance on user experience (UX) design direction and strategy.
• Provide subject matter expertise in User Experience Design (e.g., Human Centered Design, User Research, User Personas, User Journeys, Developing, Prototyping, Design Mock-ups, and Evaluating Usability).
• Create and deliver a User Experience (UX) Research Plan and Outcomes for each use case, including research goals, methodology, synthesis, and next steps.
• Facilitate discovery activities such as generative research with users and stakeholders, content review, information architecture review, accessibility review, and data collection.
• Partner with other Product Teams to ensure integration of new tools or services.
• Lead the design and development of user interfaces for various applications, ensuring they are visually appealing and user-friendly.
• Provide clear and actionable interface design specifications to development teams.
• Develop dynamic forms and complex UI components, including rich cards and drag & drop features.
• Define and maintain UX frameworks and templates for developers.
• Apply insights from user research to describe product functionality, including epics, user stories, and technical requirements.
• Support design synthesis activities and communicate research findings through various formats.
• Perform requirements analysis based on User Experience Research and stakeholder input.
• Develop User Personas and create Customer and User Journey Maps.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product owners, developers, and designers.
• Conduct usability testing sessions and refine designs based on feedback.
• Create prototypes to visualize design concepts.
• Write and edit plain language content for development teams.
• Create and test wireframes and prototypes in collaboration with stakeholders.
• Lead user testing sessions and analyze results to improve designs.
• Establish and uphold design standards across projects.
• Work with ReactJS, JavaScript, CSS, and Tailwind to develop user interfaces.
• Design within a micro-service architecture for scalable solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, UI/UX Design, Graphic Design or related field.
• Minimum of nine (9) years of professional experience in a user-focused production environment.
• Experience in front-end development with ReactJS and JavaScript.
• Familiarity with UX, information architecture, content strategy, and best practices in health literacy and user-centered design.
• Experience in software engineering and design architectures.
• Knowledge of system security measures and best practices.
• Experience with building and migrating software and IT services to meet strategic business needs.
• Experience conducting research for advanced technologies to support business needs.
• Proficiency with Adobe XD, Axure, Balsamiq, Invision, UXPin, InDesign, Sketch.
• Experience with usability testing tools.
• Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
• Excellent communication skills to articulate design concepts.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Proven track record of delivering scalable and reliable software solutions.
• Portfolio demonstrating UI/UX design expertise.
• Familiarity with UX design thinking and principles.
• Experience in designing dynamic forms emphasizing intuitive user experience.
• Proficiency with HTML, JavaScript, CSS, Tailwind, and related technologies.
• Experience creating CSS cards and drag & drop functionality.
• Experience with UX analysis, user research, and usability studies.
• Knowledge of Section 508 compliance and accessibility standards.
• Ability to generate innovative solutions to complex design problems.

Nice to Have

• Experience in unit testing and providing code coverage.
• Familiarity with version control systems (GitLab preferred) and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience working within a micro-service architecture.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms and services (e.g., Azure, AWS).
• Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools.
• Understanding of Agile methodologies.
• Strong organizational and project management skills.
• Experience in process design, documentation, and use case modeling.
