About the Role

The UX/UI Design Manager at Capital Rx reports to the Senior Director of Design and plays a dual role in delivering expert-level product design solutions while managing, mentoring, and guiding the next generation of designers. The position involves balancing personal project responsibilities with team leadership to ensure success across product teams and individual reports, contributing to the company's mission of reducing healthcare costs through innovative health technology solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the lead UX/UI designer for one or more product teams, delivering complex UX/UI design solutions from conception to launch, ensuring alignment with business goals and user needs.
  • Conduct and oversee user research, including interviews, surveys, and usability testing to inform design decisions.
  • Create high-fidelity wireframes, prototypes, and visual designs that effectively communicate design concepts.
  • Contribute to and help maintain design systems, style guides, and pattern libraries to ensure consistency across products.
  • Collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to define product requirements and implement design solutions.
  • Facilitate design thinking workshops and brainstorming sessions to drive innovative solutions.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to other designers, fostering their growth and development.
  • Stay current with UX/UI design trends, tools, and best practices for product design, usability, and accessibility.
  • Contribute to the overall design strategy and vision for the organization.
  • Contribute to regular evaluation and improvement of design team processes and procedures.
  • Manage a set of reports, providing clarity on performance expectations and professional growth.
  • Gather and collate performance feedback from other capabilities on the product team to assess reports' performance.
  • Write quarterly and annual performance assessments for reports, planning for career advancement.
  • Identify growth opportunities for reports and work with them to set goals and improvement plans.
  • Hold regular 1:1 meetings with reports to discuss performance, build relationships, and provide growth guidance.
  • Ensure adherence to the Capital Rx Code of Conduct, including reporting noncompliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in HCI, graphic design, or equivalent work experience.
  • 8+ years experience in a UX/UI or Product Designer role.
  • 0-2+ years experience managing people in a product delivery environment.
  • 1+ years proven experience mentoring teammates or managing designers and contributing to team skill development.
  • Mastery of Figma, XD, Sketch, or other UX/UI design tools, with a willingness to work exclusively in Figma.
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating real-world projects adhering to UX/UI principles and accessibility standards.
  • Proven experience designing and delivering responsive interfaces with knowledge of CSS media queries, Grid, and Flexbox.
  • Strong attention to detail and project management skills.
  • Working knowledge of HTML and CSS.
  • Functional understanding of GitHub, React.js, and client-side APIs is a plus.
  • Experience working in data-heavy, enterprise platforms such as Pharmacy Benefits or Health Insurance is a plus.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Intellectual and professional curiosity.
  • Comfort and experience working in a fast-paced, growing environment.

Qualifications
