About the Role

The Senior Lead Validation Engineer is responsible for leading electrical feature validation and verification for specific vehicle programs at Cognizant's Mobility Practice. This role involves working with suppliers and various engineering teams to validate electrical systems, resolve issues, and support successful vehicle launches within a company that specializes in smart connected vehicle engineering for automotive OEMs and startups.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and create test plans for electrical features across the vehicle, including cluster, radio, body control module, telematics, and powertrain
  • Develop, maintain, and execute test plans (DVP&R) at the vehicle level
  • Report defects based on test plan failures
  • Manage issues and conduct root cause analysis of issues found
  • Provide feedback on System Requirements to ensure specifications are testable
  • Manage team budgets and tasks
  • Develop the program budget and timeline
  • Generate and order the Bill Of Material (BOM)
  • Commission test properties such as Plywood Buck, HIL, and Vehicles
  • Define and manage ECU tracking and Design Verification Plan (DVP)
  • Conduct specifications and requirements reviews, change requests, and lessons learned
  • Manage issues and status reporting
  • Participate in program reviews and vehicle team meetings
  • Maintain strategic relationships with functional areas and manage deliverables for the vehicle program
  • Manage all series cards and bulletin impacts to the budget and program timing
  • Ensure vehicle timing and requirements are provided to the team
  • Develop plans for test property types and configurations
  • Lead build coordination of PWB/VHIL/HIL properties, ensuring on-time delivery and readiness
  • Collect manpower assessments and track actual effort
  • Determine vehicle needs for validation, obtain approval, and submit vehicle requests
  • Develop and maintain ECU tracking charts and DVP
  • Share verification reports and publish validated software for development use
  • Update plywood buck and vehicle test properties before validation loops
  • Collect vehicle information such as configuration reports and PINs
  • Manage test properties and reservation calendar
  • Support vehicle level EMC testing and End of Line (EOL) tester development
  • Review bulletins and change requests, develop validation timing, and plan validation activities
  • Support escalation of roadblocks and technical issues
  • Support documentation reviews and Lessons Learned process
  • Support design teams and escalate incomplete tasks
  • Participate in warranty, quality, and reliability meetings
  • Ensure timely completion of compliance reports
  • Lead product-related issues and investigations

Requirements

  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Computer Engineering or equivalent
  • 6+ Years Experience in various automotive roles
  • Experience in electrical systems design, development, or test engineering
  • Experience in validation of complex systems and resource and financial budgets/allocation
  • Experience in developing/scheduling DVP&R and electrical test procedures
  • Effective communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to multitask and coordinate testing for multiple validation engineers and programs
  • Highly developed interpersonal and collaborative skills
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and project leadership experience
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills, including with executive management
  • Record of successful process and performance improvement initiatives

Nice to Have

  • Experience with automotive validation processes and tools
  • Knowledge of vehicle electrical systems and AUTOSAR Model Based System Design
  • Familiarity with hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing and validation techniques

  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or Computer Engineering
