About the Role

The Vice President of Content Strategy is a marketing leader responsible for shaping and executing Carnegie's content vision and strategy. This role will lead the development of bold, distinctive, and high-performing content that positions Carnegie as the market leader in the higher education space. The VP will own content development across formats and platforms—from strategic campaigns to executive ghostwriting—and will be accountable for connecting content to measurable business outcomes. This executive will serve as a trusted partner to leadership and a collaborator across Marketing, Market Presence, and Go-To-Market (GTM) teams. Equal parts strategist and creator, the VP, Content Strategy will be instrumental in elevating our voice in the marketplace and strengthening the connection between our brand, our people, and the institutions we serve.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and execute a comprehensive, multi-format content strategy aligned with Carnegie's brand, marketing, and growth goals in partnership with GTM leadership.
  • Create and oversee high-impact content—long-form articles, video, interactive media, social, webinars, on-stage presentations, research studies, podcasts, and more.
  • Lead the development of editorial frameworks and content plans that support key initiatives, product launches, and strategic campaigns.
  • Build content ecosystems around key moments—research, events, product rollouts—to amplify across channels and extend lifecycle value.
  • Explore and implement emerging technologies and AI tools that enhance content development, personalization, distribution, and measurement.
  • Establish KPIs and reporting frameworks to track content performance and drive continuous improvement.
  • Serve as primary ghostwriter and content partner to internal executives and subject matter experts, turning strategic insights into compelling narratives.
  • Partner with in-house PR to coach leadership on extending their voice across written, video, and live platforms.
  • Collaborate with Marketing and GTM teams to architect integrated campaigns that connect storytelling to pipeline.
  • Develop content strategies supporting account-based marketing, vertical positioning, and lifecycle engagement.
  • Lead organic social content strategy with emphasis on engagement, brand voice, and market visibility.
  • Drive integrated amplification efforts across social, earned media, and partner platforms.
  • Analyze trends across higher education, enrollment, and technology landscapes to inform content themes.
  • Partner with the Market Presence team to align content development with events, PR, and industry engagement opportunities.

Requirements

  • Proven ability to define and execute comprehensive content strategies that advance business and brand goals.
  • Skilled in crafting original, high-quality thought leadership, both independently and through executive collaboration.
  • Deep understanding of how content contributes to market differentiation and organizational authority.
  • Strong knowledge of content's role in ABM, demand generation, and full-funnel campaign design.
  • Comfortable advising and collaborating with senior leadership; confident ghostwriting and presenting on their behalf.
  • Proficiency in content performance analytics and optimization strategies.
  • Demonstrated success in leading teams and collaborating across marketing, sales, and product functions.
  • Ability to thrive in a remote-first, fast-paced, and agile work environment.
  • Proficient in digital tools for content development, social media, and workflow management.
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Business, or a related field (Master's a plus).
