About the Role

The Vice President, Culture Marketing at Major League Baseball is responsible for developing and executing culture marketing strategies that enhance MLB's brand perception, increase player visibility, and develop new business opportunities. The role involves leading a talented team, collaborating across departments, and serving as a subject matter expert on culture, with a focus on lifestyle pursuits such as food, fashion, music, and film. The position aims to create integrated marketing platforms aligned with cultural trends to engage diverse audiences and elevate MLB's presence at the intersection of sports and culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and generate cross-functional buy-in for the long-term vision of MLB's culture marketing to enhance brand perception, increase player visibility, and develop new business opportunities.
  • Partner with Marketing Planning and Analytics to develop new target and growth audience segmentation, KPIs, and performance measurement for initiatives, evaluating cultural relevance and penetration.
  • Develop and refine the culture marketing strategy through the creation of integrated platforms aligned to major lifestyle pursuits, including annual marketing plans and tactical calendars.
  • Supervise a team of industry experts in producing and executing annual integrated platforms, generating internal support and connecting key learnings across platforms.
  • Work closely with Sponsorship, Consumer Products, Events, Media, Club Marketing, and other departments to respond to briefs and share opportunities.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on culture, creating tools for evaluating talent, sponsors, and partners for co-marketing activities, and guiding internal decision-making.

Requirements

  • Four-year degree from an accredited university in marketing, advertising, communications, business, or related field.
  • 14+ years of experience in marketing or related functional area.
  • Proven track record as a marketing leader with expertise in creating marketing platforms and strategic partnerships at the intersection of sports and culture.
  • Extensive experience in representing and negotiating on behalf of high-profile brands and/or media.
  • Experience in agency and vendor management.
  • Baseball knowledge and/or experience preferred.
  • MBA preferred.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with sports marketing and culture integration.
  • Strong negotiation skills and vendor relationship management experience.
  • Experience in developing integrated marketing campaigns across multiple platforms.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, advertising, communications, business, or related field.
  • 14+ years of experience in marketing or related area.
  • MBA preferred.
