About the Role

Fox Chapel Publishing is a dynamic award-winning publisher of over 3,500 specialty interest books and magazines based in historic Mount Joy, PA. The company sells and distributes its products through partnerships with industry leading distributors, specialty independents and national retail chains including Michaels, Hobby Lobby, Walmart, and Target. In addition, Fox continues to build a successful ecommerce business with online retailers including Amazon, as well as our direct-to-consumer business. Fox Chapel Publishing has been in business for over 33 years and is headquartered in Mount Joy, PA, with company owned and operated onsite warehousing and distribution facilities. The Vice President of Marketing will lead all marketing efforts for the company, develop and execute comprehensive B2B marketing/publicity strategies, oversee creative direction, manage budgets, and represent the publisher within the book trade community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the creation of all trade-facing marketing materials and metadata, ensuring accuracy and effectiveness aligning with sales goals and seasonal priorities.
  • Collaborate with the Publisher, editorial, sales, and creative teams to coordinate title launches, seasonal campaigns, catalog development, and sales conference presentations.
  • Represent the publisher within the book trade community, cultivating strong relationships with key accounts, trade media, and event partners and network with key contacts in the book industry and other associated enthusiast communities.
  • Own and manage the master B2B marketing calendar, coordinating timelines for campaigns, catalogs, trade shows, title launches, and author engagements.
  • Lead the planning, allocation, and oversight of the B2B marketing budget to ensure efficient use of resources across metadata, publicity, creative services, and trade events—maximizing visibility, driving pre-publication sales, and supporting revenue targets.
  • Coordinate with Publisher and Sales Management to ensure timely delivery of metadata for new titles and backlist updates.
  • Supervise the creation and refinement of descriptive metadata, including short and long descriptions, author bios, and trade-focused sales points.
  • Partner with the Amazon team to develop compelling A+ content for all new title launches.
  • Identify priority titles and ensure pre-publication publicity plans are developed, communicated, and executed.
  • Increase visibility in trade publications by securing coverage in Publishers Weekly, Shelf Awareness, Library Journal, and other key media outlets.
  • Secure high-impact book reviews across key media outlets, influencers, and industry platforms.
  • Develop post-publication campaigns for key backlist and perennial titles.
  • Build and maintain relationships with consumer-facing book reviewers, including The New York Times, Washington Post, LA Times, Book Riot, and others.
  • Oversee the development of press releases, media kits, and announcements for major acquisitions, author news, and industry recognitions.
  • Lead creative direction for all B2B-facing marketing materials including catalogs, pitch decks, promotional sheets, and co-op ads.
  • Supervise internal and freelance designers, writers, and content producers.
  • Plan and execute the publisher's presence at key trade shows including ALA, Quilt Market, and gift/vendor events.
  • Manage booth design, logistics, and title selection for trade shows.
  • Coordinate with sales and publicity teams for author signings, pitch meetings, and seller engagement.
  • Collect and analyze post-show feedback to evaluate ROI and inform future strategies.
  • Oversee the development of retail POP displays and fixtures for specialty and non-traditional markets.
  • Manage creative production timelines for catalogs, promotions, and trade events.
  • Develop and manage the annual B2B marketing budget, monitor expenditures, and optimize spend based on performance.
  • Evaluate the cost-effectiveness of marketing initiatives and adjust strategies accordingly.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business management, marketing, or similar field.
  • Minimum 5-7 years' experience in a management role of a book marketing team or creative services/marketing team.
  • Minimum 5-7 years' experience in book or product marketing to B2B or D2C customers.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).
  • Proficient in Adobe InDesign.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 25%.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods working on a computer.
  • On occasion, lifting over 40 pounds may be required.
  • Ability to work in a professional office environment.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with metadata management and developing A+ content for Amazon.
  • Experience in trade publicity and securing media coverage in industry outlets.
  • Experience planning and executing trade show participation and booth management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business management, marketing, or similar field.
  • 5+ years in marketing management, product marketing, or creative services in the publishing or related industry.
