About the Role

The VP of Brand and Events is an executive leadership position at Thomson Reuters, reporting directly to the Chief Marketing Officer. The role oversees a team of 30+ professionals responsible for brand assets, major events, sponsorships, and brand strategy development. It involves developing strategies to elevate key brands, launching enterprise campaigns, and collaborating with marketing, communications, product, sales, and legal teams to build brand awareness, protect brand assets, and enhance customer experience. The position offers high visibility, exposure to senior leadership, and opportunities for professional growth within a global, innovative organization operating in over 100 countries. The role is based in Zug, Switzerland, with a hybrid work model.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop strategies to advance brand value through marketing and communications programs that positively impact sales and retention efforts.
  • Lead adoption of AI-powered brand analytics and marketing automation platforms to optimize brand performance.
  • Support employee communications programs that encourage staff to embrace, live, and promote the brand.
  • Develop purpose-driven brand narratives aligned with corporate goals and initiatives.
  • Develop proactive brand protection strategies through online monitoring and trademark/domain registrations, working with Legal Services to challenge infringing marks.
  • Establish guidelines and standards for brand, trademark, and trade dress usage across the organization and third parties, monitoring compliance.
  • Partner with CX teams to ensure brand consistency across all customer touchpoints and optimize customer experience.
  • Develop measurement strategies for brand attributes including awareness, familiarity, consideration, and preference.
  • Generate awareness and consideration through strategic marketing campaigns across paid and owned media channels.
  • Identify and manage key enterprise sponsorships to elevate brand recognition.
  • Lead events and tradeshow strategy, including virtual and face-to-face events, and drive hybrid event strategies and immersive digital experiences.
  • Execute crisis communications and brand reputation management strategies when needed.

Requirements

  • Senior-level marketing professional with a strategic, business-focused mindset and effective communication abilities.
  • Experience in product brand management within professional services or SaaS industries.
  • Experience with Account-Based Marketing (ABM) for B2B professional services.
  • Strong measurement and analytics skills, including defining and measuring brand metrics and ROI modeling.
  • Proven track record managing high-profile brands using integrated marketing approaches such as PR, events, digital marketing, and promotions.
  • Global brand portfolio management experience and success in international marketing environments.
  • Crisis communications and brand reputation management experience.
  • Ability to understand and execute on commercial, technical, and strategic drivers.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Experience working in global and virtual environments with proficiency in digital communication platforms.
  • Strong project management and team leadership skills in fast-paced settings.
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing or business; advanced degree (JD, MBA, or technical) preferred.
  • 15+ years of related marketing experience, including 10+ years in management and brand management roles.
  • Experience leading brand teams in technology sectors and with customer events.
  • Experience building and scaling marketing teams in rapid-growth environments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing or business (required).
  • Advanced degree such as JD, MBA, or technical (preferred).
  • 15+ years of related marketing experience.
  • 10+ years of management experience in brand management.
