About the Role

The University of Florida is seeking a Marketing & Communications Specialist I to manage digital campaigns, web updates, SEO monitoring, and reporting. The role involves collaborating with creative teams, ensuring web and digital standards are met, and providing data-driven insights to optimize marketing efforts. This position is essential and may require after-hours work during crises, with responsibilities aligned to support the university's strategic marketing initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategize tactics and budget for digital campaigns to effectively reach target audiences.
  • Brainstorm campaign and content ideas for promotion in paid digital channels.
  • Work with the Marketing Copywriter to ensure all copy meets platform specifications.
  • Curate images for ads and collaborate with video and design teams for ad assets.
  • Set up digital ads across native, display, social, and video platforms.
  • Monitor digital ad performance to meet benchmarks and optimize spending.
  • Edit and update websites in a timely manner.
  • Manage web projects, coordinate with web and infrastructure teams, and represent SCM at project meetings.
  • Ensure web projects meet UF's digital, accessibility, and brand standards.
  • Monitor site health via analytics platforms, identify issues, and recommend content or design improvements.
  • Monitor search engine rankings and appearances in AI platforms.
  • Optimize on-page content in collaboration with content writers and SEO vendors.
  • Establish KPIs, create performance reports, and provide data-based recommendations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and two years of relevant experience; or an Associate's degree and four years relevant experience; or an equivalent of education and experience.
  • Experience managing paid digital marketing campaigns.
  • Proficiency in web and digital analytics tools.
  • Experience with website editing and CMS platforms.
  • Strong background in SEO and GEO best practices.

Nice to Have

  • Bachelor's degree in appropriate area plus 2 years of digital marketing and web marketing experience.
  • Previous project management experience.
  • Experience using WYSIWYG editors.
  • Proven experience in analytics and creating reports with actionable recommendations.
  • Understanding of web and digital accessibility best practices.
  • Experience with off-site SEO and working on GEO.
  • Proficiency using CMS platforms such as WordPress or TerminalFour.
  • Working knowledge of HTML/CSS.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, verbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • Sense of urgency and strong attention to detail.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or Associate's degree with relevant experience.
