We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Application Engineer, Controls to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical support and expertise in the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of Schneider Electric PowerSCADA and Inductive Ignition systems. This role involves working closely with contractors and clients to understand their needs, troubleshoot issues, and ensure the successful implementation of our solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Focus on the deployment of Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS) at data center facilities.
  • Perform software installation, customization, and start-up services; start-up, commissioning, and troubleshooting of electrical power monitoring equipment.
  • Configure device communications and provide customer training for the commissioned system.
  • Consult with customers to determine system operation requirements.
  • Install and upgrade EPMS software, including Schneider Electric, Inductive Ignition, and 3rd party hardware.
  • Perform system start-up services and troubleshooting, including network communication issues.
  • Document the as-built system and interpret contract specifications and electrical or mechanical drawings.
  • Work effectively in a team environment, interface directly with contractors and end-users daily, and perform other related duties as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, with emphasis on control systems, Computer Science or Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years experience related to SCADA commissioning, Electrical Power Monitoring Systems, Building Automation Systems, and/or Systems Integration.
  • Experience working around electrical equipment such as switchgear, generators, UPS systems, etc.
  • Thorough understanding of power generation, power distribution, and power quality concepts.
  • Good understanding of industry-standard communication protocols including Modbus, IEC 61850, RS485, and BACnet.
  • Knowledge of computer networking architectures, topologies, and hardware.
  • Knowledge of computer programming languages (Visual Basic, C/C++, Java, Python, etc.), databases (SQL), and HTML development.
  • HMI configuration experience, including graphical screen development.
  • Experience with software such as Power Monitoring Expert, Power SCADA Expert, and Inductive Ignition.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and good driving history.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays, with travel up to 75%.
  • Ability to interpret electrical/mechanical drawings and troubleshoot network communications.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Schneider Electric PowerSCADA and Inductive Ignition systems.
  • Experience with electrical fundamentals and electrical equipment.

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.
