About the Role

The Autonomous Maritime Platforms Senior Manager of Growth will lead business development efforts for the Autonomous Maritime Platforms business area at General Dynamics Mission Systems. The role involves advancing autonomous technologies, delivering systems for the US warfighter, and scaling programs that focus on design and integration of advanced maritime systems, embedded electronics, and autonomy. The position requires strategic vision and business savvy to drive growth through building relationships, capturing opportunities, and providing market insights, all within a cutting-edge defense and maritime technology environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and engage key DoD stakeholders to increase awareness and demand for Autonomous Maritime Platforms, including Bluefin Robotics Autonomous Underwater Vehicles.
  • Develop and capture new business in a competitive market environment.
  • Track opportunities, ensure timely follow-ups, and work with marketing to create promotional materials tailored to defense and maritime sectors.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing customers, partners, and industry stakeholders, and represent GDMS at industry events.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to create tailored proposals and presentations for government and commercial customers.
  • Perform in-depth market research to identify potential customers, assess competitors, and stay ahead of emerging trends in autonomous maritime markets.
  • Provide strategic advice to the Director of Growth and Vice President of Autonomous Maritime Platforms on growth strategies and investment recommendations.
  • Build strong relationships with key customers, becoming their go-to expert on our products and driving new business opportunities.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent plus a minimum of 10 years relevant experience; or a Master's degree plus a minimum of 8 years relevant experience.
  • Proven experience in business development, sales, or a related role within defense, maritime, or technology sectors.
  • Demonstrated mastery of the full sales cycle including business validation, capture, proposal creation, management, and contract negotiation.
  • Strong knowledge of defense acquisition processes, autonomous maritime systems, and maritime technology.
  • Deep understanding of DoD regulations and compliance.
  • Excellent written and oral communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to travel as needed (30%-50%).

Nice to Have

  • Knowledge and domain experience in Autonomous Underwater Vehicles, Mine Warfare, Subsea and Seabed Warfare, submarine platforms & integration, undersea command and control.
  • Proven relevant industry business experience or operational/business experience with US Navy undersea warfare communities, including Submarine Fleets, OPNAV, PEO Undersea Warfare Systems, PEO Submarines, PEO Unmanned and Small Combatants, Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Naval Information Warfare Center, DARPA, OSD SCO, and ONR.
  • Demonstrated business acumen and experience with DoD acquisition.
  • Creative thinking with the ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with customers and internal counterparts.
  • Ability to thrive in a highly interactive team environment.
  • Ability to work from Quincy, MA when not traveling.
  • Department of Defense Top Secret security clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information eligibility.
