About the Role

The Brand and PR Marketing Director at Western Alliance Bancorporation will lead brand positioning and public relations initiatives for the bank, acting as a center of excellence for the marketing team. This role involves developing and executing brand strategies to enhance the bank's market presence and reputation, fostering brand loyalty, and ensuring consistent messaging across all platforms. The director will work closely with cross-functional teams to align brand and PR strategies with business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Formulate and implement comprehensive brand strategies that align with the bank's goals and objectives.
  • Establish and maintain a strong brand positioning in the market to differentiate Western Alliance Bank from its competitors.
  • Partner with the Chief Marketing Officer on owning overarching brand strategy, architecture, brand voice and value proposition across all touch points.
  • Oversee the creation and execution of marketing campaigns that effectively communicate the brand's value proposition.
  • Create and run national campaigns that elevate the company's reputation and increase brand awareness and sentiment.
  • Enhance and enforce brand guidelines to ensure consistency in all marketing materials and communications.
  • Manage the design, content, and delivery of the collateral system for the bank, including sales support materials and templates.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive PR strategy in partnership with the CMO and PR agency to build positive media relationships and secure high-impact coverage.
  • Serve as the primary contact for media inquiries, crisis communications, and key stakeholder messaging.
  • Write, edit, and approve press releases, talking points, media pitches, and executive messaging.
  • Work closely with marketing, product, and sales teams to ensure brand alignment and integration.
  • Provide guidance to the marketing team as a center of excellence in managing their segments and national business lines' creative and campaigns, with focus on measurement.
  • Oversee development of all marketing assets across digital and offline channels, including print, digital advertising, email, and social media.
  • Collaborate with digital marketing, product marketing, and internal communications to ensure unified messaging and goals.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders to build and maintain strong brand partnerships.
  • Monitor and analyze brand performance metrics to measure the effectiveness of brand initiatives and make data-driven decisions.
  • Manage brand, PR, and creative agencies and provide guidance to other marketing agencies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Public Relations/Communications or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in brand management and public relations, preferably within the financial services industry.
  • Experience with B2B marketing in financial services is a plus, either through client or agency side.
  • Proven track record of developing and executing successful brand strategies, including leading or playing a key role in a rebrand initiative for a large company, preferably within the financial services industry.
  • Proven ability to lead creative strategy, including campaign development and deployment.
  • Deep understanding of the media landscape and experience managing external PR agencies and vendors.
  • Experience influencing cross-functional teams and business decisions to drive results.
  • Ability to communicate with senior executives and manage highly visible projects.
  • Solid program and project management skills with a detail-oriented approach.
  • Knowledge of general commercial banking products and services, including deposit, loan, and treasury management, is a plus.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and market trends.
  • Creative thinker with a passion for innovation and excellence.
