About the Role

Wisconsin State Fair Park is a year-round entertainment venue hosting activities, events, meetings and more throughout the four seasons. It is home to multiple facilities including the Exposition Center, Tommy G. Thompson Youth Center, Milwaukee Mile Speedway, and Products Pavilion, with hundreds of events held annually. The organization seeks a highly qualified Chief Marketing Officer to oversee the Marketing Division, including Advertising and Sponsorship, Marketing and Communications, Guest Services, and Creative Services, responsible for developing and executing the overall marketing strategy to generate revenue and support organizational goals. The role involves strategic planning, leadership, and collaboration with other division heads, with a focus on both traditional and modern marketing channels within a dynamic event industry environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the Marketing Division, including Advertising and Sponsorship, Marketing and Communications, Guest Services, and Creative Services.
  • Plan, develop, and execute the organization's overall marketing strategy.
  • Generate revenue by increasing sales through successful marketing and sponsorship initiatives.
  • Provide leadership and management for WSFP's marketing staff.
  • Contribute to the organization's performance as measured against budget and long-term strategy.
  • Work alongside the CEO to execute WSFP's vision and coordinate with other division heads on marketing needs.
  • Manage departments including Advertising/Branding/Creative Services, Sponsorship, Marketing Communications/Public Relations/Social Media, and Guest Services.
  • Participate in strategic planning as a member of the CEO's Senior Management Team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited post-secondary college/university or commensurate experience and training.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • Knowledge of the event industry and experience with traditional and modern marketing methods.
  • Extensive knowledge of current marketing and sponsorship trends.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe software, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Acrobat, and InDesign.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel for work with limited overnight travel possible.
  • Ability to serve as a positive role model for employees.
  • Excellent analytical and leadership skills.
  • Creative yet collaborative mindset.

Nice to Have

  • Knowledge of operational procedures at WSFP or other large-scale event organizations.
  • Knowledge of the State's budget and fiscal process, state statutes, federal regulations, administrative policies, and state legislature.
  • Event industry experience.

Qualifications

  • Educational background with a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
