About the Role

The Content Director is responsible for leading content creation and strategy for the SupplySide Supplement Journal brand, ensuring high-quality, engaging, and valuable content across digital magazines, web content, e-commerce assets, and more. This role involves collaborating with editorial, marketing, and sales teams, building industry relationships, and guiding the editorial team to align content with brand and business goals. The position can be based in Boulder, CO or Phoenix, AZ.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead content for the SupplySide Supplement Journal brand, ensuring it is high-quality, on point, and valuable across all platforms.
  • Collaborate with editorial, marketing, and sales teams to develop new ideas and ensure content performs well.
  • Build strong relationships with professionals in the supplement space to grow audience and engagement.
  • Guide the editorial team on big-picture content strategy, audience resonance, and alignment with business goals.
  • Create content scopes for calendared content and oversee execution to meet objectives.
  • Solicit outside contributors and freelance writers, assign content, and provide direction, feedback, and edits.
  • Brainstorm speaker ideas and moderate conference programming for SupplySide events, both onsite and virtual.
  • Work with the Conference Content Director and industry subject matter experts on conference and webinar content.
  • Generate article ideas and oversee content production in collaboration with the editorial team.
  • Partner with sales to develop content that meets audience needs and sales objectives.
  • Collaborate with the art department to ensure editorial designs align with brand voice.
  • Develop editorial calendars in coordination with senior leadership and sales.
  • Guide managing and associate editors on digital content decisions, design, and process improvements.
  • Manage HR responsibilities for direct reports, including timecard approval and PTO requests.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, review competitive environment, and gather market data for content planning.
  • Engage with industry stakeholders, participate in industry events, and develop market relationships.
  • Attend trade shows and conferences to gather information and network with clients and audience members.
  • Speak, present, and moderate at online and in-person industry events.
  • Manage freelancer relationships, assign articles, ensure deadlines, and oversee content quality.
  • Ensure website content is current and featured content is updated regularly.
  • Monitor external publications and sources to stay up-to-date with marketplace trends.
  • Communicate with content team and stakeholders via meetings and internal channels.

Requirements

  • Experience in content creation, editing, or editorial leadership, preferably in a media or publishing environment.
  • Strong collaboration and leadership skills to guide teams and work across departments.
  • Ability to develop and oversee content strategies aligned with brand and business goals.
  • Excellent communication skills for engaging with industry professionals and internal teams.
  • Experience managing freelance contributors and content budgets.
