About the Role

Blue Hour Studios is a social-first content agency formed in 2019, affiliated with Horizon Media, with headquarters in New York and Los Angeles. The Creative Director role is to lead the agency's creative efforts from idea to execution, ensuring premium quality and innovative output across various formats and channels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conceive and pitch original branded concepts across formats such as social, event, partnerships, community, OOH, and legacy channels.
  • Present polished, strategic creative work in collaboration with the Creative team and wider Blue Hour team including Account, Strategy, and Influencer teams.
  • Lead client workshops, brainstorms, and tissue sessions to develop creative ideas.
  • Ensure that Blue Hour Studios' creative output is of premium quality and front-line in the industry.
  • Provide input on productions and design projects to maintain high standards of creative quality.
  • Manage junior members of the creative team, providing actionable feedback and conducting performance reviews.
  • Keep the team updated on new processes, tools, ideas, and innovative executions.
  • Set expectations for growth and development of junior creatives.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in a creative role.
  • At least 4+ years in a leadership role.
  • Portfolio featuring examples from projects on TikTok, Reels, X, and/or YouTube Shorts for brands.
  • Exceptional storytelling and presentation skills aimed at selling creative work.
  • Strong conceptual skills and passion for social media.
  • High design aesthetic and experience in design thinking.
  • Experience managing design, production, and experiential teams, including on-set experience.
  • Fluency in presentation and slide design in Google Slides, PowerPoint, and Keynote.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere, After Effects).
  • Innate curiosity and compassion.
  • Ability to distill complex creative nuances and explain them clearly.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with on-set production and art direction.
  • Understanding of algorithms and what makes good social media content.
  • Ability to leverage market and industry research to inform creative ideas.
