The Creative Services Manager leads the creative vision and day-to-day operations of the company's in-house Creative Services team, responsible for delivering compelling, multi-platform content for various creative initiatives and projects. The role involves guiding the team from concept through execution, ensuring timely delivery, brand consistency, and high-quality output rooted in creative strategies that engage audiences and contribute to business results. The Creative Services team is part of Marathon's Communications & Community Relations organization, and the manager reports to the Vice President, Communications & Community Relations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, develop and mentor a multidisciplinary team of creative professionals, including designers, photographers, videographers and multimedia experts.
  • Manage the intake, scheduling and execution of creative projects, including establishing and managing creative timelines to ensure projects are delivered on time.
  • Guide the team in gathering requirements and developing compelling creative briefs that align with business objectives and tell engaging stories.
  • Lead the development and execution of major creative projects and campaigns across multiple channels and platforms.
  • Manage and refine brand/logo guidelines for the Marathon and MPLX corporate brands and strengthen brand governance to ensure a consistent identity across applicable creative initiatives and company platforms.
  • Prioritize and allocate team resources and workloads effectively.
  • Identify opportunities to increase operational efficiency and scalability within the creative workflow and production processes, using tools, metrics and best practices.
  • Establish and manage relationships with creative, production and technology vendors.
  • Track and report on key performance metrics related to creative operations.
  • Drive innovation and elevate creative standards, integrating new ideas, tools and techniques into daily operations, and champion a culture of continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in graphic design, visual communications, commercial art, communications, marketing or related field, or an associate degree with 15 years of direct experience.
  • 10+ years of creative services experience within a large corporate or medium- to large-sized agency setting.
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience highly preferred.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing a range of creative work across digital and traditional media.
  • Strong storytelling and brand development skills.
  • Proven ability to create and direct high-quality content with an understanding of how creative design influences business results.
  • Advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, creative project management tools, digital asset management systems, and Microsoft PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with photography, video production and motion graphics strategies and tools.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with attention to details.
  • Ability to manage and execute a high volume of creative priorities concurrently.
  • Ability to quickly learn and understand complex business lines and stakeholder groups.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent collaboration skills and ability to influence creative decisions in a matrixed organization.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, changing environment with autonomy, accountability and accuracy.
  • Some travel required.

  • Educational background as specified in requirements.
  • Experience with industrial, manufacturing or safety-sensitive companies preferred.
