About the Role

The Data and Research Coordinator will participate in all aspects of research, data collection, and operations in the Violence Intervention Advocacy Program at Boston Medical Center. The role involves managing multiple projects, including IRB application, data collection, and study completion, within a supportive environment committed to equitable healthcare and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for development of data management protocols and oversight of data management systems.
  • Abstract data points from medical records and enter/document in VIAP database.
  • Undertake research projects, analyze data, and summarize findings.
  • Develop and coordinate study protocols, IRB submission, data entry, database creation and management, and data analysis.
  • Perform basic statistical analysis using SAS, SPSS, or R, including dataset creation, descriptive statistics, chi-squared tests, t-tests, and regressions.
  • Work directly with the department's bio-statistician on major analyses and learn new procedures.
  • Assist in preparation of research reports, abstracts, and presentations.
  • Assist Clinical Director in grant writing and submission.
  • Conduct manuscript preparation and submission with research collaborators.
  • Prepare and develop IRB documents and data collection forms.
  • Support staff in data collection, management, and database training.
  • Perform administrative activities including website maintenance.
  • Organize and disseminate data and findings to partners.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary teams and meetings.
  • Collaborate with community organizations, partners, and funders.

Requirements

  • Master's degree required; MPH, Epidemiology, or related field preferred.
  • Experience in statistical programming (STATA, SAS, R).
  • Experience managing a clinical database preferred.
  • Working knowledge of program evaluation and research.
  • Ability to analyze data, undertake research projects, and summarize findings.
  • Experience designing, implementing, and maintaining database systems and performing basic statistical analysis.
  • Self-directed with excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to operate efficiently within tight time-frames; detail-oriented with strong follow-through.
  • Competence with computer software including MS Windows, MS Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
  • Cultural sensitivity and comfort working with diverse social, racial, and ethnic populations.
