About the Role

The Digital Content Project Assistant at the University of Rochester is a part-time role supporting the Communications and Public Relations Department within the Medical Center. The position involves creating and managing digital media content to support the university's mission, providing opportunities for students to gain experience in digital communications, and working within a collaborative, inclusive environment committed to values such as equity, leadership, and integrity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support URMC's social media team by creating engaging content using photography, videography, web stories, and other multimedia skills for social media sites.
  • Monitor and audit URMC's social media accounts across Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube, including updating account information and engagement data.
  • Conduct reviews of social media and related communications metrics and analytics to brainstorm ideas for content improvement.
  • Research and write news releases, web content, and internal stories for clinical areas, including interviewing faculty, staff, or patients as needed.
  • Assist with media interviews and support news conference logistics.
  • Attend staff meetings and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Completed at least four semesters of study in Journalism, New Media, Public Relations, Communications, or a similar curriculum at an accredited college or university.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the usage of various social media platforms and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment, maintain confidentiality, and make efficient decisions.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills to convey information clearly and professionally.
  • Strong attention to detail, planning, organizational, and critical thinking skills.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with photography, videography, web stories, and multimedia content creation.
  • Experience in researching and writing news releases and stories.

Qualifications

  • No professional work experience required; equivalent combination of education and experience accepted.
