Job Description

About the Role

We are recruiting for an incredible, paid digital advertising & marketing agency in San Diego that focuses on providing Amazon ad strategies for brands selling on the Amazon marketplace. The position is for a Principal Advertising Specialist, a five day/week onsite role in their San Diego office, involving managing Amazon search campaigns, developing strategies, analyzing performance data, and leading client and team initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manages the Amazon search campaigns for clients of varying sizes using company and department practices and procedures.
  • Strategizes and determines a course of action, assesses and resolves a wide range of issues, and provides counsel and advice as required.
  • Provides detailed analysis, comprehensive interpretations, and creates actionable plans based on campaign performance data from Amazon Ad Console and other retail media platforms.
  • Partners with enterprise clients and manages escalations by conducting comprehensive, cross-functional analysis.
  • Leads high-importance enterprise client meetings by delivering comprehensive, stakeholder-tailored presentations that drive impact, while effectively preparing internal teams for success.
  • Conducts comprehensive audits involving complex data to identify and capitalize on client growth opportunities, discussing anomalies, possible causes, and solutions with the team.
  • Develops and implements detailed PPC strategy for assigned clients.
  • Establishes and maintains strong relationships with clients, manages brand categories, defines KPIs of success, and proactively communicates challenges.
  • Engages in weekly department scrums and training sessions to deepen knowledge within the channel.
  • Seeks opportunities to enhance campaign performance and business impact, aligning strategies with client goals.
  • Conducts in-depth market research and competitor analysis to inform campaign strategies.
  • Maintains frequent and excellent communication with internal teams and external clients.
  • Leverages AI tools and delegation resources to improve workflow and campaign outcomes.
  • Drives strategic initiatives to improve operational performance, profitability, and client satisfaction.
  • Assists in developing new department training materials, designs toolsets and templates, and serves as an SME or content owner for department functions.
  • Mentors and guides Advertising Strategists, sharing expertise and fostering their development.
  • Maintains or exceeds department performance standards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, business, or a related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Eight or more (8+) years of related advertising experience with specific expertise in Amazon PPC management.
  • At least 4+ years of experience with Amazon e-commerce, preferably familiarity with Seller Central and Vendor Central platforms.
  • Demonstrates excellent understanding of department practices, procedures, and specialized functions.
  • Advanced experience with Amazon retail search advertising, Google paid search advertising, or similar platforms is highly valued.
  • Expert knowledge managing campaigns in Amazon Ad Console, Amazon 3rd Party Advertising Platforms, Walmart Connect.
  • Advanced project management skills with a track record of leading successful initiatives.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to make data-driven recommendations.
  • Advanced communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Excellent skills utilizing Google/Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel/Google Sheets for data analysis and reporting.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proven ability to mentor and train team members.
