About the Role

Alverno College is seeking a Digital Media Manager to support its marketing and communications team. The role involves managing social media platforms, creating engaging content, and supporting the college's strategic communication efforts to reach target audiences, including students, alumni, and community partners. The position emphasizes storytelling, online engagement, and brand representation in digital spaces, with a focus on fostering community and educational outreach.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create, manage and consolidate content for Alverno's social media and online accounts such as Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, and other platforms that fit Alverno's social media mission.
  • Monitor and identify online conversations the Alverno brand should engage in and interact with including social media channels and blogs.
  • Manage and maintain Alverno's social media accounts across all departments and lead monthly social media strategy meetings.
  • Work with Admissions, Advancement, and other departments to create and direct effective interactive hyper-local content, including promotional videos, educational dissemination, social influencer collaborations, community interactions, and other marketing deliverables.
  • Assist the Director in engaging with influencers and student communities, building relationships, and coordinating influencer relations and student immersion events (virtual/in-person).
  • Understand and incorporate best practices for developing online communities, including social listening, reviewing analytics, and refining engagement strategies.
  • Collaborate regularly with management on tactical communication efforts.
  • Coordinate with the website manager and team members to ensure messaging consistency across channels.
  • Represent Marketing and Communications at meetings and events through presentations, displays, and networking.
  • Attend workshops and skill development sessions relevant to the role.
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned by the Director of Marketing & Communications.

Requirements

  • At least 2-3 years of related public relations, marketing, or social media experience and community management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Photography, videography, and editing skills relevant to social media; advanced skills are a plus.
  • Knowledge of current online technologies and their relevance to communication efforts.
  • Experience using web and social media analytics to measure success and identify trends.
  • Experience working on social media campaigns and adherence to social media strategy laws.
  • Collaborative team member mindset.
  • Sound judgment, responsiveness, and clear communication skills.
  • Self-starter with the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Ability to build strong relationships across all organizational levels.
  • Knowledge of higher education, particularly student recruitment, is desirable but not mandatory.
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully on multiple projects under tight deadlines with high attention to detail.
