Job Description

About the Role

The Digital Media Specialist at the University of Kansas, located at the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center (KLETC) in Hutchinson, provides services for digital media projects including graphic design, social media management, and website management. The role supports all courses and programs offered through KLETC and the Center for Public Safety Leadership, working closely with the Vice Provost to develop and implement media strategies that increase brand awareness and engagement at both local and national levels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Capture and produce all social media content, including graphic overlay/design and editing.
  • Create graphics for various projects such as promotional materials, marketing content, websites, and job postings.
  • Identify target audiences and develop social media content with specific objectives across different channels and segments.
  • Track and analyze the effectiveness and impact of social media initiatives and optimize accordingly.
  • Increase brand awareness and market share through social media platforms.
  • Provide content for media projects, ensuring consistency across the program portfolio.
  • Develop content and media for dissemination via social media, websites, and other distribution channels.
  • Ensure key messages align with the Vice Provost's strategic plan.
  • Build and manage KLETC's social media profile and presence.
  • Collaborate with unit heads to ensure program goals are met through social media content.
  • Meet with staff to review media production steps and target appropriate audiences.
  • Work closely with the Vice Provost to develop measurable objectives and evaluate projects against those standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in graphic design, communications, or relevant field, or an associate's degree plus two years of related experience, or four years of related experience.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Valid Kansas driver's license or ability to obtain one within 90 days.
  • Minimum of two years experience in graphic design, including experience with graphic design software.
  • Experience with website design and management.

  • Experience developing successful creative campaigns.
  • Experience in developing brand strategy or campaign plans.
  • Experience working with teams on large-scale, long-term projects.
  • Prioritization skills to manage critical deadlines.

  • Ability to respond to direction and adapt to changes in project tactics or deadlines.
